DEAN POV

Dean laid curled up on the uncomfortable hospital bed sighing when he heard a voice. "So what, so you're just going to give up? You're just going to lay down and die?"  Dean turned over looking at a tall boy with long brown hair.

"You're not real." Dean stated sitting up, blinking rapidly. He looked around the room trying to find the person playing the cruel joke on him but came up with nothing.

"Of course not. You made me up in the crazy mind of yours. Come on Dean get up. You can keep going!"

"Who says I want to Sam?" He yelled out, his voice echoing throughout the empty room. "You're gone and mom's gone and dad-" His voice began to crack as he ran his fingers through his short hair. He squeezed his eyes shut and began to rock. "It should have been me." He began to whisper over and over to himself.

"Dean?" A small voice asked. He ignored the voice and continued to rock. "Hey it's okay," she said wrapping her arms around him. He finally stopped rocking as he looked up meeting green eyes. She smiled softly and ran her fingers through his hair.

"Thanks Charlie," he whispered as he leaned into her touch.

"No problem. I just came to get you because it's time for dinner. You wouldn't believe what they're serving! Pie!" She exclaimed earning a ghost of a smile from Dean. They both stood up and made their way into the cafeteria. Charlie left to go help as Dean found his regular seat near the window.

"Dean?" Dean turned to the voice meeting bright blue eyes. He smiled softly and hummed. "Is it okay if I sit here?" He asked pointing to the seat across from him. Dean shrugged and nodded as he watched Cas sit down.

"I haven't seen you around before. Is this your first day?" Dean finally spoke up. Cas nodded playing with the cuffs of his trench coat.

"How long have you been here?" Cas asked tilting his head to the side.

"I was admitted around May so about 6 months." He answered and sighed. Cas raised his eyebrow.

"How old are you?"

"I turned 18 in January." Dean stated as he played with his amulet. "You?"

"17." Dean nodded as he focused on the boy. His hair was sticking all over the place and dark bags were under his eyes indicating he had trouble sleeping or haven't slept at all. His bright blue eyes shined bright but there was a hint of darkness looming in the background. Dean caught a glimpse of the cuts scarring his arms as his trench coat moved up slightly. He continued to analyze him until his curiosity got the best of him.

"If you don't mind me asking why are you in this place? You don't seem like the crazy type." Dean said as he meet Cas's eyes.

"Neither do you." Dean laughed bitterly and nodded. Cas looked down to his arms and sighed. "I was planning on killing myself." He answered. Dean looked up to him as Cas looked down, ashamed with himself. Dean leaned over the table and lifted his head.

"Don't be ashamed Cas." Dean said softly.

"Why are you here?" Dean began to tense up as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"I'm crazy." He answered before standing up and walking out of the cafeteria, the food on his tray untouched.
