Our Little Secret

PART 5

"Anderson chill, I was joking. I do want a good grade on this, I just don't want to talk like we're from 1490." Carter says plopping down on the couch.

It was now Friday afternoon. We had just got home from school and Carter and I were practicing our project.

"Carter. We have like five more days to get this done. Please just work with me here." I say begging him to try his best. He gave me a tired look and began to re-read the lines we went over before hand.

"'Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take.'" He says looking down at his script. "Okay, so then we kiss. And that's the end of that." I reply flipping the script over to the front.

"Hey, Anderson? Do you not want to kiss me or something? Cause every time the kissing part comes up you always dodge it." He says.

 "I mean it's not ideal for me to kiss you," I reply.

 "But we have to kiss for the play... In front of the whole class... so we might as well get used to it." He says, making a good point.

It's not like I didn't want to kiss him, I actually kind of did. But I had no interest in him. He was a bad boy. He went to parties and got drunk. I was the complete opposite. I studied on the weekends and drank water every day. I mean sure he is really attractive and all, but his personality... not so much.

"I think we should just take a break for now, we've been practicing for 3 hours," I say placing the paper in my folder.

"I know but we should probably just kiss and get used to it." He says walking closer to me. 

"You want to kiss me don't you?" I ask laughing, crossing my arms. "Not at all." He says, getting a little flushed.

I wasn't expecting him to get embarrassed like that. The schools bad boy, scratch that, the schools hottest bad boy wants to kiss the schools not so hot honor roll student? It sounds crazy but I think it's true.

I give off a smirk. "Carter, don't lie to me." He grabs his book bag and starts to walk towards the door. 

"Wait Carter I was kidding! Come back!" I add, yelling. He turns around with his hand on the door knob. "What?" He says more as a statement than a question. 

"It's like 5 pm do you want to order pizza or something? You're probably hungry." I say. "Uh, yeah sure. Sounds good." He says. I stand there shocked. I wasn't expecting him to take the offer.

I grab my cell phone and dial Pizza Plaza's number. "What do you want to get?" I ask Carter, with my phone to my ear. "Just get a large pep." He answers. I nod and wait for them to answer. "Hi, can I get a large pepperoni pizza with a two liter of Mountain Dew?" I exchange my information to the delivery guy and hang up the phone.

"It should be here in 20 minutes," I say sitting next to him on the couch. He nods and we sit in silence for a while. Even though there was silence, it wasn't awkward, it wasn't weird. It was normal, we were both on our phones so it's not like we had anything to talk about.

"So there's this costume party I'm throwing in next weekend and I was wondering if you would want to come?" Carter trailed off, breaking the silence. 
"I'm not sure." I say back. "Common Anderson, you need to lighten up, have a little fun!" He says running his fingers through is hair. I nod and say, "I don't know, I'll think about it."

The doorbell rang and I got up from the couch to see the pizza delivery guy holding a pizza in a red bag and a two-liter soda. "Thank you, keep the change," I say grabbing the pizza and soda. "Want to watch a movie or something?" I ask. He nods and I turn on Netflix.

"Since its October 17th, we should watch a scary movie, I mean it is getting close to Halloween and all," I say surfing through the movie categories. He nods and grabs a slice of pizza.

We scroll through Netflix for about 5 minutes, until I come across the movie Halloween. Okay, I know it's not scary but you gotta admit, it's a pretty good movie.

"What about this one?" I ask.
"Yeah, sounds good to me."
