it had been in their shared flat, they had heard the good news. in particular it was michael who answered the phone. he had been sitting in the kitchen, waiting for his toast to be ready, slather in vegemite then watch something on netflix. it was then just as his toast popped, his phone went off, his ringtone being teenagers by my chemical romance, which he listened to momentarily before finally answering the call.

"hello?" he mumbled,

"this is michael clifford, correct?"

"uh.. y..eah." he answered sheepishly

"i am phoning on behalf of the raise the music ( a/n:this name will most likely change lol) , the international  alternative music competition,  to congratulate your band on being accepted to be an official competitor." the speaker paused, "the official rules and regulations, important dates and other official competitors have been listed in a detailed email which has been sent to you and are also available on our website.

michael couldn't contain his smile, he didn't even notice calum was standing there with no pants on, donning only his boxers which had pots of gold and four leaf clovers all over, and the writing 'rub for luck' on the crotch. calum would be glad that michael was too excited to notice calum eating his toast when he got off the phone after hastily saying thank you a mere a thousand times.

"we're in!!" he yelled, making sure that everyone within a 52 mile radius could hear

calum nearly dropped the crust of michael's toast before letting out a scream similar to a grown man or woman about to see their favourite football team win.  it wasn't long before luke and ashton had joined them in celebration. ashton was nearly squealing which sent michael into a fit of giggles. they would be competing against bands from all over the world, their performances broadcasted international and the best of it, a chance to prove themselves as a alternative band.

after the initial excitement, they began to searching tv channels to see if any were covering the competition progression, in relief they found a entertainment channel that was covering it live as various bands were announced for the official competition's line up. the boys felt their heart swell, as a picture of them as a group was in the corner, the women stating how their band had broke out just last year after the tour with one direction and now it was time to see what their were truly capable of. all the boy's high fived except for ashton who was to busy gawking at the screen. the three other boys looked back at the tv after noticing ashton's gasp. their picture has been replaced by a new one.

it was three girls and one boy.

ashton knew he had a problem when he heard the girl's name

"lead singer, kayla artemis."            

but luckily he wasn't as in trouble at the time then calum, since michael realized he never ate his toast but somehow it wasn't in the toaster.
