Chapter 3 ~ Truths and Premieres

Start from the beginning

"Hey (Name)," She says an apologetic smile on her lips. She looked like she hadn't aged a day since the last time I saw her.

"Hey Karen, you look good." I say as I force my hands into my back pants pockets.

"You too," She says as she closes the distance between us and without so much as another word wraps her arms around me holding tightly to me. "I missed you." She says and tears start to fall from my eyes as I clutch tightly to her. "You better not be crying dammit!" She cries out after a few seconds.

"I'm not," I lie as I try to stop the tears.

"Don't lie to me," She says as she pulls away and seeing that I am crying narrows her eyes at me. "Stop it, stop it right now."

"Yes ma'am," I say as I start to wipe the tears away.

"I'll leave you two to it then," Sebastian says reminding us both that he was there. "Don't touch the dishes I'll get them later. If you need me I'll be next door playing video games."

"Thank you Seb," I say as I give him a thankful smile.

"No problem Darlin," He says using his fake southern accent and I glare at him.

"Run," I say and he laughs as he runs from the room the door closing softly behind him. I turn back to Karen who is smiling at me and I quickly hug her again.

"I hear he is forcing you to go to the premier with him."

"You heard correct," I say as I pull away and motion for her to walk into the living room.

"Do you think that's a good idea?" She asks as she walks into the living room and plops down onto the couch.

"Are you referring to Chris?" I ask as I plop down beside her.

"You know I am," She replies reaching for my hands. "Look I don't know exactly what happened between the two of you, but from what I remember of you telling me it wasn't very pretty."

"It wasn't," I say furrowing my brows. "But I'll eventually have to get over this pain and move on."

"That's very grown up of you." She says smiling at me. "Oh by the way Kyle and Tommy wanted me to tell you that they are gonna be in town the day after tomorrow and they want the five of us to get together."

"Five?"

"They like Sebastian." She says shrugging her shoulders. "I have no idea why I mean the guys a total hottie but not too bright." She says jokingly making me chuckle. "I'm sorry we didn't protect you from Jack (Name)." She says and my smile fades.

"Don't mention it,"

"No, I mean it, the more I thought about it the more I realized how stupid it was to blame you for what she did to herself."

"But I could have saved her." I said the tears starting to form in my eyes again.

"No, (Name), you couldn't have. Look there is something you should know," She says making me gulp down a breath of air. "Emily, didn't tell you everything."

"What do you mean?" I ask narrowing my eyes at her.

"Em was sick, like really sick, she had stage four leukemia."

"What?" I ask completely shocked.

"She begged us not to tell you."

"Us?"

"Her parent's, Kyle, Tommy, and I; we all knew."

"Why didn't you guys tell me? Why didn't I notice?"
