Today was the day, everyone gathered into a room that connected to the training room. Soon, all the game makers will watch us to find out who was the weakest and who was the strongest. It was suppose to go in order from D1 to the Capitol. One by one they all took their turns until it came down to Trevor and I. "Are you going to be okay?" He said with his arm around my shoulder, holding me close. I nodded and he kissed my head. It felt nice to have someone there, even if they were just using me. Because in a way I never really had that. Sure I had boyfriends in the past, but I just used them until I got tired of them or they got tired of me. "I'll be fine." I smiled as he walked into the room leaving me by myself to think on what I might do to impress them.
10 minutes later it was my turn. Trevor just nodded at me,without saying a word I knew he was mad at something. I walked into the room,it was quite large with many weapons all around it. A game maker told me to start when I was ready. I picked up a few knives and threw them at a target. They didn't seem impressed so I decided to use my fighting skills. One both ends of the room stood a man wearing all black and on my command they both charged at me. I spun around kicking on of the men in the gut before elbowing the other in the throat. The one who was kicked in the gut got up quickly and charged at me once more. I blocked his hits and shoved him against the wall, knocking him out. The one who was elbowed in the throat was just now getting up. I charged at him,but he knocked me against the wall injuring my left arm. I could feel the blood trickling down my arm and on to my pants. I was furious,so I started at him again knocking him in the mouth and kicking him in the gut. He fell to his knees as the game makers stood up,clapping lightly. "That will be all,Miss. Snow." And I left the room quickly.
I need to get my arm bandaged,I'm getting blood everywhere. I sighed and walked back to where the other tributes where. Trevor walked over with a from on his face. "Tess? You're bleeding, what happened?" I laughed nervously and nodded "Just clumsy, that's all." he helped me get my arm cleaned up and bandaged before leading me to the dining hall.
We ate a quick dinner before going to wait for our results with our mentor. "Are you nervous?" I asked sitting beside him on a couch. "Not really, why? Are you?" I shook my head "N-No Just wondering." Just then the screen lit up with scores from District 1 and 2.. Everyone before us as usual. When it was our turn I held onto Trevor's hand tightly and looked at the screen. "Tess Snow-8", "Trevor Dean-6" I looked at the screen confused before turning to him. He looked both angry and ashamed. "A 6 is still good." I smiled as he left the room. My mentor smirked while looking right at me. "He deserved the 8 not you,Snow." I looked at her, wondering why she would even say that. A mentor is suppose to want you to live, not complain about getting a higher score than another tribute.
"I need some air." My mentor nodded as I left the room. I walked to the roof and found a boy already sitting by himself there. I thought about just going back inside but the squeak from the door alerted him. He spun around and looked at me surprised. "What are you doing up here?" He said as I walked over to the railing. "I needed some air. I usually come here to think." He nodded and looked back at the view. "Why are you up here?" I said looking over at him. He smiled and nodded chuckling lightly "Just needed to clear my head." I nodded and sat down a few feet from him. "My name's Peeta by the way, you're Snow's Grand daughter, right?" I sighed and nodded "My name is Tess." He smiled "Nice name." we talked for a while and I asked him to join the career's alliance. He might have something to offer us that the others do not. "I better get back inside." I told him before leaving the roof and returning to my room.
Tomorrow is when it all begins. The Games,May the odds be ever so in my favor.
