Chapter 11: The First Night

CloudPaw's POV:

Cloudpaw was sick of walking. They had been walking forever. The sun was getting slower towards the horizon and Cloudpaw set down his herbs. "We should find a place to sleep." He mewed and picked his herbs back up. Talonpaw nodded and ran ahead to looks for a place. Cloudpaw walked over to Lavenderpaw happily. "Jeez it seems like the mountains are getting farther away..." Cloudpaw hissed trying to start conversation. "Yeah. Ugh can we have some of those herbs yet?" Cloudpaw shook his head. "These are for when we can't travel anymore and it's not almost night time." Lavenderpaw shrugged. "I could just sleep right here..." She laid down and Cloudpaw laughed. "Don't get too comfortable, Talonpaw is coming back." Talonpaw showed them to a mossy cave he found with no smell of foxes or badgers anywhere. "I'll take first shift." Talonpaw mewed. All of the cats laid down and spread out. Cloudpaw walked to the side of the cave and set his herbs down in a safe place. He laid down and curled up into a ball and noticed Lavenderpaw started shivvering. He walked over to her and wrapped his big furry body around her short hair. She smiled at him and licked his nose. "Thank you." She mewed and closed her eyes. Cloudpaw closed his eyes too and could feel Talonpaw's eyes burning into his pelt. He was going to be in trouble.

Goldenpaw's POV:

Goldenpaw watched at Cloudpaw kept Lavenderpaw warm and she looked at Bowtie. Goldenpaw nuzzled up against him and smiled at him. He looked at her and smiled back. Goldenpaw closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. In the morning Goldenpaw was the first to wake up. She stood up and looked at everybody. Cloudpaw was wrapped around Lavenderpaw, and Talonpaw was laying face to face with Lavenderpaw. "I guess he gave up on shifts." Goldenpaw shrugged and stepped outside into the morning sun. She shook herself and let the sun warm her fur. "Ahh" she mewed and walked over to a small lake near the cave. She drank a bit of the water and groomed her face before walking back to the cave. "Hmm why is everyone still asleep?" She wondered ironically as Lavenderpaw woke up. She wiggled her way away from Cloudpaw and Talonpaw, but left them face to face on the floor. Goldenpaw tried to hold in her laugh. "Hi Lavenderpaw!" Goldenpaw mewed happily. Lavenderpaw sat down next to her and groomed herself. "Those boys are falling head over tail for you." Goldenpaw mewed and chuckled. "Yeah, but Bowtie is falling head over tail for you." She mewed. "Really?" Goldenpaw asked excited. "Yeah but I guess you have been too love struck to notice." Goldenpaw blushed under her fur. She suddenly heard a loud hiss and looked back at the cave to see Talonpaw and Cloudpaw awake. "Get out of my face Mouse brain!" Talonpaw hissed pushing Cloudpaw away. "Why were you even laying that close fox dung?" He pushed Talonpaw. "You wanna go?" Talonpaw hissed and jumped into Cloudpaw. Cinderpaw and Bowtie ran out of the cave quickly and the cats watched them fight. Talonpaw looked like he was winning. Goldenpaw got scared when she saw some blood. She ran in there and ripped them apart. "Lavenderpaw is mine!" Cloudpaw hissed. "You can't have her because you are a medicine cat!" Talonpaw yowled out Cloudpaw stopped fighting and sighed. "It's true..." He muttered and walked out of the cave. Goldenpaw felt bad for him. She watched as he walked over to the lake where she had washed her face. He looked down into the water and suddenly fell in. It was shallow water but Lavenderpaw still got worried. She ran over to the lake and looked in the water. She screamed at the top of her lungs and All the other cats ran to the lake. Goldenpaw looked in and screamed too. "Where Is Cloudpaw?!"
