Chapter 10: The End Of The Beginning

CinderPaws POV:

Cinderpaw looked at the frail old cat. According to Bowtie his name was Seth. These cats had names of kittypets. Seth mumbled out the words "Finally." And his voice was hoarse. Seth was a tabby, a tiny shorthair tabby Tom. He had battle scars, a few too many. Cinderpaw wanted to ask him where he got them from, but didn't dare speak out. "So, you finally cared to join me." Talonpaw stepped forward. "Are you, the ruler of herbs?" Seth chuckled. "Now now, calm down. All of your questions will be answered, but first I would at least like a proper introduction." Seth stood up and walked forwards. "As I'm sure you know by now, I am Seth, and This is my assistant Bowtie." All the cats looked at him. "Now who are you?" Seth said walking up to CloudPaw. "I am Cloudpaw." Seth looked to the next cat. "I am Goldenpaw."

"I am Talonpaw."

"And who are you, pretty?" Seth walked up to Lavenderpaw and smirked. "Surely, a beautiful she-cat like you needs a mate." Lavenderpaw looked at Talonpaw. "Sorry, but my heart's already taken, old man." Lavenderpaw hissed at Seth and Seth stepped back. "My, my! You sure are fiesty. Well, anyway, who are you?" Seth looked straight at Cinderpaw. "I am Cinderpaw." Cinderpaw bowed. "Now she has manners." Seth stepped back and nodded to them. "Hello!" The cats all nodded and said hello back. Seth looked at Talonpaw. "Well, what was your question?" Talonpaw stepped forward once more and looked Seth in the eye. "Are you, Seth, the ruler of herbs?" Seth started laughing. "Of course I am!" Seth looked at Bowtie and Bowtie ran off. "Now, would you care to follow me?" The cats nodded and followed him.

TalonPaws POV:

Talonpaw lead the group, behind Seth. They walked around the tunnels a bit and came to a wall with vines on it. Seth looked at Bowtie who was now there and Bowtie pulled on a vine and the rock moved leading into another cave. In the cave were walls and walls of herbs. "There's so many!" Cloudpaw ran into the cave and sniffed at the plants. Talonpaw sighed and looked at Lavenderpaw. "It's his passion." Seth smiled at Cloudpaw. "Feel free to take any you like, I have more than I need." Cloudpaw nodded and started grabbing herbs. "Well, are you convinced?" They all nodded. "Well what's the prophecy?" Talonpaw burst out. "Oh yes! That's why you are here." Seth smiled and walked to the back of the cave and moved some moss out of the way.nAll the cats gathered around. "It's ancient text, but I know the language." Seth smiled. "This is your prophecy." Cloudpaw dropped his herbs. "What does it say?" Seth cleared this throat and looked at the text. "To save the thing you lost, you must find the maker of frost. A simple task it will require, to gain what you do so desire." Cloudpaw picked up his herbs. "Who is the maker of frost?" Seth looked at Bowtie "I had Bowtie study that and he knows. So I shall send him with you on your journey to find the maker of frost." Goldenpaw purred and Talonpaw looked at Lavenderpaw concerned. "Well, shouldn't you be going?" Cloudpaw nodded. "Thank you Seth!" Seth nodded and sent them off.

After they exited the cave Talonpaw looked at the sky. "The sun is just about to hit Sun high, so we have plenty of time to travel before nightfall." Talonpaw mewed and looked at Bowtie. "So which way do we go?" Bowtie looked at the mountains. "That way, we have have to get yo the mountains." Talonpaw sighed. "This is going to be a long journey. Good thing Cloudpaw has those herbs." Lavenderpaw nodded and Bowtie flicked his tail signaling for the cats to follow. Bowtie and Goldenpaw walked in front, Talonpaw and Lavenderpaw walked behind them, and in the back was Cinderpaw and Cloudpaw. "Well this is the end of the beginning, and the start of the actual journey." Talonpaw said to Lavenderpaw. Talonpaw looked at the mountains and sighed. "Maker or frost?" He mumbled "how on earth do we know what that is."
