"Thanks, mama." I smiled towards my mom, Nina. She held a box in her hands. "Anything for you, my baby." she replied with a peck on the cheek.
I led the way to my dorm room as she followed behind me and dad behind her. My room was on the third floor at the end of the very end of the hall. I turned and to unlock my door, slowly kicking it open.
"Aren't you excited? Sophomore year! Things are getting serious- aw my only baby! Going to college! I can't believe it. I am so proud of you. You have absolutely no idea!" My mom dropped her box onto the floor and grabbed my cheeks. I pushed her hands away and started to rub my cheeks, that definitely left a bruise.
"Things were serious last year and the year before that and-" I replied to her sweet, but very awkward, comment. Until my dad rudely, but unsurprisingly, interrupted us."Shut up already so we can unpack. A music career is nothing to be so teary eyed about. She will be back for Christmas anyways, good lord." My father, Willie, rolled his eyes. It was obvious he struggled to keep them open.
I rolled my eyes and started unpacking the boxes. They were organized, just how I liked. Shirts with shirts, shorts with shorts, my plants were set aside, isles set aside, bedding together, bathroom supplies together. "You guys can go on ahead. Ive got it covered. And thank you both so much! I love you both so much!" I hugged their necks. "Oh please! If you need anything at all please call! I am just one button away! At any time! Day or night." My mom hugged me back. Tears were running down her face. Dad didn't say anything, but I felt his arm lightly grab onto my back. I smiled.
I walked behind them down the hall to sign them out of the building. The building was already packed, it was stressful. Freshman looking left and right oblivious of what to do. "Wheres the elevator?" One girl whispered. "It's right there!" I smiled and pointed behind her. If only she had turned around.
"Bye guys!" I waved as they walked away. Im sure theyll call as soon as they get home. Especially mom.
I turned to the elevator when I heard a familiar voice, but before I could see who it was the doors shut. Ugh! Theres all kinds of people here. Maybe I am just imagining things. I got onto the elevator and clicked the button. 3. People and their parents piled in. "Are you sure you wanna go to college? You can just live with us?" One guys mom said very loudly. "Mom stop!" he whispered while side eyeing me. The elevator dinged and stoped on my floor. "Um! Excuse me! This is me. Heh." I struggled out of the elevator. Thank god it was over.
When I got back to my room I continued to unpack, I pushed the beds together and put the sheets on and put my clothes away. We bought a double so I wouldn't have a roommate, which means more space. More space for me, my plants, my outfits, my desk, my plants, my guitar, my piano, and more of my plants.
Today is the first move-in day, so most of everything is for Freshman or new students. Most of the people I met last year didn't come back this year so maybe I could go meet some people. I walked down the sidewalk where they had club line-ups, food vendors, clubs and different things like that. I walked down the vendors to see what each one had. Basic stuff like college shirt sells, lemonade, random socks and pretzels."Um? Oh my god?" A familiar voice shouted from behind me. I turned my head to see if the voice was talking to me. Only for it to be no other than Curry Martin! He came to our high school Sophomore year, how ironic that he's here Sophomore year of college. "Um? Hello! Stalker? Or are you actually going here now? That would actually be amazing." I smiled and walked up to him followed by a hug. He had a pink shirt on. I guess he was embracing his gayness now.
"Yeah- it's a really long and confusing story but thats for a different time! Ugh! I am so glad I already know someone and it's not even the first day!" He smiled and wrapped his arm around mine. I smiled back. Curry and his twin brother, Lee, moved to my high school our sophomore year. Me and Curry basically immediately clicked. Lee on the other hand? Ugh. They are foster kids and have done alot of moving as far as I know. I don't ask about it.
