This isn't a love story. That would be too romantic.
Nora and Miles have known each other long enough to know exactly how to hurt each other.
Once, they were best friends. Then something changed. Years passed, lives moved on, and neither of them eve...

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Welcome to those who are reading something of mine for the first time - and hello again to those who have been here before.
It has been a LONG time.
I've been a bit AWOL for the last few years because, quite honestly, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to write. I had ideas, obviously. I always have ideas. But nothing ever stuck around long enough for me to actually sit down and write an entire story.
And then, a few weeks ago, something finally clicked.
I was listening to an unhealthy number of Spotify playlists designed specifically for sexual tension, yearning and people making incredibly questionable decisions around each other, and I decided I wanted to write something.
The only problem?
I had no plot.
No characters.
No ending.
Nothing.
Just vibes.
My first thought was enemies-to-lovers. Because, obviously. Who doesn't love two people who supposedly hate each other being forced into a situation until they inevitably realise they want to rip each other's clothes off?
Except... I didn't want to write enemies-to-lovers.
Because Nora and Miles don't hate each other.
And, honestly, I don't think they ever really could.
They have too much history.
They've known each other for too long. They've grown up together, hurt each other, forgiven each other, drifted apart and found their way back into each other's lives more times than either of them would probably like to admit.
And sometimes, I think, that's much more complicated than hate.
Because how do you hate someone who knows every version of you?
How do you move on from someone who has been woven into so many of your memories?
And what happens when you realise that the person you've spent years trying not to think about is suddenly sitting right beside you?
That's whereThings We Never Said came from.
It's a story about growing up and growing apart. About friendship and first love and all the terrible decisions we make when we're young enough to think there won't be consequences.
It's about things that were said when they shouldn't have been, things that should have been said but weren't, and all the space that exists between the two.
And, of course, it's about Nora and Miles.
So, naturally, I have already cast them in my head because apparently I cannot write a character without deciding exactly what they look like.
