A City I Somehow Already Belong To

HEY! DEAR SLEEPY

I have been planning a solo trip for a very long time. And every time I imagined myself travelling alone, I found myself wondering the same thing-where should I go?

I never really had to search for an answer.
There is one city that has always felt as though it were quietly calling my name-a city nestled in the Aravalli ranges of Rajasthan.

UDAIPUR

I might sound crazy, but Udaipur is perhaps the only city in India that fascinates me in a way I cannot quite explain. If I were ever given the chance to leave everything behind and begin a completely new life somewhere else, I know exactly where I would go.

Udaipur.

There is simply something about that place. Something magnetic. Something that keeps pulling me towards it, even though I have never truly belonged there.

It isn't merely a city.

It is a living canvas of art, culture, souvenirs, traditions, handicrafts, magnificent architecture, shimmering lakes, and the extraordinary history of Mewar. No wonder Udaipur is famously known as the "Venice of the East."

And yes, I am that obsessed with Udaipur.
Obsessed enough to plan almost every little detail of my first solo trip-from watching the sunrise from Bahubali Hills to witnessing the sun slowly disappear into Lake Pichola.

I have planned it all.

By now, you have probably declared me officially insane.

But listen-

This solo trip is one of my dreams.
And if you don't plan your dreams, how are you ever going to achieve them?
Everyone has different priorities. Different dreams. Different versions of happiness. Some people dream about success, some dream about love, some dream about travelling the world.

And me?

I dream about wandering through unfamiliar streets, discovering hidden corners, watching sunsets over lakes, collecting memories, and getting completely lost in a city that feels strangely familiar.

Visiting Udaipur and exploring every possible corner of it is one of those dreams.
And this is my version of happiness.
So, here I am, planning exactly where I want to go, what I want to see, and when I want to experience it.

Let's begin.

Fingers crossed. 🤞

01 | CHASING THE SUN

Lakes, golden skies, and sunsets worth remembering

Udaipur is a city of lakes and palaces, so obviously, I cannot visit it without chasing the sunrise and sunset.

I want to wake up early, take a boat ride, and watch the first rays of sunlight fall over the water, making the entire lake shimmer like scattered pearls.

For the sunrise, my list includes:

☆Fateh Sagar Lake
☆Gangaur Ghat

And then comes the evening.
Before sunset, I plan to take the road towards Lake Pichola. But before reaching my final destination, there is another beautiful place waiting along the way.

Doodh Talai Lake

It is almost perfectly placed on my route towards Lake Pichola, and I cannot resist stopping there to take in the view.
And finally-

Lake Pichola

A boat ride around sunset.
The sky slowly changing colours.
The sun sinking behind the horizon.
The reflection of golden light dancing on the water.
