This is my first time sharing this story, so please be patient with me as we go along. This story is set in Jamaica, and I'm really trying to capture the Jamaican culture, the way people actually talk, the community, family dynamics, church life, and everyday vibes.
You'll see Jamaican Patois throughout the story, especially in dialogue. I won't translate every single thing because I want it to feel natural, but I'll make sure the context is understandable.
This story follows Jah and Liyah, two people who knew each other as children but meet again years later as completely different people.
There will be romance, drama, friendship, family problems, church, street life, secrets, arguments, funny moments, and A LOT of feelings.
One thing I want to make clear about the romance: I do not condone cheating or unfaithfulness just for the sake of creating drama. I believe that if two people genuinely love each other, both parties should be loyal, devoted, and actually adore each other. ❤️
That doesn't mean the relationship will be perfect. They're teenagers growing, learning, making mistakes, and figuring out what love actually means. There will be conflict, misunderstandings, jealousy, and difficult moments but I don't want cheating to be treated as something cute, entertaining, or necessary to make a relationship interesting.
And because Jah starts the story with a certain reputation, watching him grow and understand what it actually means to care about someone will be an important part of his journey.
Please remember that the characters and their choices are fictional. The story may touch on real-life situations, but it isn't meant to glorify violence, crime, or negative choices.
