chapters will be named after some of my favorite songs, they don't necessarily have to do with the story.

ONE.

Michael woke up at exactly 6:34 am, just like he did every school morning; ten minutes before the bus was scheduled to arrive. He trudged to his neat kitchen, rubbing at his eyes and letting out a loud yawn. Michael was so tired, he stayed up for so long last night making his 'Bus mixtape'. He was so happy with it, he planned on listening to it everyday for the rest of his life. Michael ran his hands through his hair, sighing when he saw they were out of milk.

Michael trudged back to his room, waking up a little more and grabbing a random pair of black jeans, and a band shirt that didn't reek of weed or cigarettes. It was the first day of his Senior year, he 'had' to make a good first impression. Michael made sure he packed his cassette player and head-phones, he didn't really care how his hair looked, he liked it a little wild. He opted out on wearing his leather jacket, deciding to wear his denim jacket with his favorite band logos stitched onto it.

Michael walked to the bus stop at the end of his street with his headphones on and his player in his jacket pocket. He held back a laugh at the Freshman that looked like he was about to shit himself. His name was Martin--he thinks. His parents are business associates with Michael's, Mike hopes that doesn't mean he can follow Michael around the high school and sit with him at lunch.

Michael's parents own some high class restaurant chain that he does not give a fuck about. Everyone assumes Michael is as posh as his parents, but once they see the boy in real life, they are taken back. Michael wears dark, ripped clothes, mostly with alternative band names or vulgar words written on them. He's got his eyebrow, tongue and ears pierced. He got his tongue pierced just to spite his father, and because he thinks it looks fucking badass.

The bus pulls up and Michael sighs, another year of pointless shit Michael will never be sober enough to remember. He immediately spots Calum, Ashley and Ashton sitting in the back. He smiles at them and takes his usual seat, directly in the back. Michael can see that Ashton and Calum are arguing already, he can't hear a word they're saying, he absolutely loves it. Ashton tries to peel off Michael's headphones, obviously hoping to get Michael's input on whatever bullshit they're arguing about. Michael gives him the look and Ashton raises his hand in defense, turning back to his boyfriend who is now pouting and has his head turned away from Ashton. Michael rolls his eyes. Gross, couples are gross.

Sweet Emotions by Aerosmith started playing, and damn, Michael really wished he had some weed right now. This is his favorite song to get high to. Michael leans his head against the window and closes his eyes, he knows this bus route by heart. The bus stops, and Michael mentally rolls his eyes -- Yuck, Joshua. He's a Senior as well, and Ashley is absolutely in love with him. Michael can practically feel her swoon.

The bus jerks forward and then stops, Michael is confused. Never in his four years of high school has there ever been a stop near the church. Michael looks above the seat just in time to see a lanky blonde boy clamber onto the bus. "Seniors are in the back," The old bus driver grunts, jamming a thumb in the direction of the backseats. Michael takes his headphones off and just like everyone else; moves his bag onto the outside of the seat so there is no more room.

The blonde boy looks towards the back with these big-doe eyes, his eyes are so blue Michael nearly drowns in them, he forces himself to look away. "Oh no, no fucking way," He hears Ashley say, "There's no way you're sitting with me, fuckin' pimple face."

He rolls his eyes at the dumb attempt to insult the boy, he also rolls his eyes at the sharp intake of breathe the blonde boy does when he hears what she says. Michael looks up again, he's standing about two seats away. The bus driver yells for him to sit down repeatedly. The blonde begins to panic -- it's his first bus ride and he's already gotten yelled at.

Michael sighs and the nearly shaking blonde and grabs his bag, pulling it onto his lap, mumbling out a sit down. The bright blue eyes burn into Michael's, widening when the bus driver pulls over and screams for the boy to sit down. "Sit the fuck down, or get kicked off the bus." The boy sits down, quietly thanking Michael, who was putting his headphones back on.

As the bus takes a sharp turn, a Bible falls out of the blonde's book bag and Michael sighs-- it's going to be a long year.
