In this story, Anirudh and Bondita's marriage has ended, yet they continue to live together because Anirudh still bears the responsibility for her well-being; he knows that if Bondita were to live apart from him, the villagers would not spare her. Consequently, he has used his family's influence to intimidate the villagers and keep Bondita with him. Five years have now passed; their relationship is unique, yet something seems to have changed-though neither of them knows exactly what.

Over the years, Anirudh has earned a significant reputation; although many still oppose his progressive views, some have begun to agree with them. Bondita is no longer the only girl attending school-many parents have started sending their daughters as well.
