A/N Hey guys! So, I've decided to re-write this story. So if you haven't read the NEW chapter one, please go back and read it. (this is the NEW Chapter Two)

It is going to be written nine or so months after Riley and Maya became pregnant, and I will also add flashbacks to certain milestones, such as finding out the genders etc. Anyway, this is how it's going to be set out.

Anyway, just make sure you're all caught up.

Enjoy.

It happens so quick and unexpectedly, one minute she's up making remarks about her boyfriend's origin, the next she's down on the floor; crippled with pain, outside of a (thankfully) empty classroom.

"Maya!" Yells Farkle, as he rushes to where Lucas is comforting the heavily pregnant girl and drops to his knees. "What happened, is she okay?"

"No, I think her water just broke." Lucas responds, rubbing her back as she rocks back and fourth on her hands and knees. By now, a crowd is forming around them, staring like she's some kind of zoo animal, the four youngsters are used to the staring by now but they can't say it doesn't affect them.

"Alright, give her some space. She doesn't need an audience!" Calls a familiar voice. Mr Emery cuts through the crowd, ushering the students to where they should be for third period. "I'll call an ambulance."

"I need...Riley." Maya whines, overwhelmed by the immense pain.

Mr Emery nods in understanding, "I'll tell the office to send her down."

"Eughhh." Maya gasps, placing two hands on her burgeoning baby bump.

"Just try to breathe Maya, you remember what the midwife told you?" He reminds her, prompting Maya to start taking deep breaths.

The ambulance gets there the minute Riley does, which is around five minutes after the incident happens. Riley rushes as fast as her baby will allow her to go, out of Study Hall, down winding corridors, and finally over to her agonised best friend.

"Alright Miss Hart, can you tell me how bad your pain is on a scale of one-to-ten?" Asks a friendly female medic.

"T-ten!" Maya chokes out, as her breathing begins to quicken into short pants.

Riley immediately grabs her best friend's shoulders "Maya, listen to me. You need to calm down, it's gotta hurt, but this is what your body needs to do right now."

Maya groans, intentionally throwing her head back onto a wall of lockers. Meanwhile, Lucas is talking to a medic.

"Yeah, she's been having very strong Braxton Hicks all day today and yesterday, her water broke about five minutes ago." Lucas explains.

"And how far apart would you say her contractions are?" Asks the male medic.

"Around every two minutes." Lucas tells him.

"Okay, I don't mean to alarm you, but I don't think we should move her if this baby is going to be born safely."

Lucas's blood runs cold. "Wait, what are you saying?

"I'm saying, it's more than likely; those Braxton Hicks Miss Hart was experiencing yesterday and today, was actually early labor."

"Ahhhh!" Maya shrieks, clutching her expanded bump.

"Young man," begins the medic, placing his gloved hand on Lucas's shoulder. "You're about to become a father."

And that's when Lucas is thrown back days, weeks, and months.

Flashback

"We probably won't even be able to see it."

"Yes, we will; they wouldn't have scheduled you an appointment if we weren't gonna get to see our kid."

"I've been pregnant for like, five weeks. It's barely a speck of dust at this point," Maya argues as she lies uncomfortably on the patient's table.

Lucas brushes her hair behind her ear and moves his hand into hers. He knows she's grumpy and especially nervous, and he feels her body relax quite a bit once their fingers are intertwined. "Well," he says, "I guess we'll find out soon; they said the doctor would meet us in here in less than ten—"

"Good morning," the woman greets as she walks into the little room. "My name is Elaine Grey, and I'll be your obstetrician." She smiles warmly and extends her hand.

Maya shakes it after Lucas discreetly nudges her. "I'm Maya."

"It's great to meet you," Dr. Grey says. "And you are..." She trails off, looking at Lucas with an outstretched hand.

"Lucas Friar," he answers happily, "the father."

"Wonderful. Well, I guess we'll go ahead and get started with the ultrasound."

When Dr. Grey rubs the cold gel all over the tiny bump on When Dr. Grey rubs the cold gel all over the tiny bump on Maya's stomach, she groans quietly in dissent, prompting Lucas to kiss her head and lovingly squeeze her hand.

Once Elaine begins sliding the motion-detecting stick around on Maya's belly, the image of her womb appears on the monitor and the doctor points to a tiny blob on the screen. "It's a little difficult to see, at first," she cautions, "but in just a few seconds... we should be able to hear—"

Ba-Boom. Ba-Boom. Ba-Boom.

The sound comes out of nowhere, and suddenly Maya and Lucas can hear the heartbeat of their baby. Maya is frozen—terrified—and Lucas can't wipe the shocked smile off of his face.

"So there you have it," Dr. Grey announces. "I'll give you two a few minutes while I print your pictures," she says kindly before exiting.

Maya's heart is racing much faster than her child's, and she has a look of panic on her face that she's not doing a great job of concealing.

"Maya," Lucas whispers, "look at that." He presses his lips to her cheek and sandwiches her hand with both of his. "That's it, that's our baby."

Her eyes are locked on the moving picture displayed on the monitor, and, as much as she'd like to listen to Lucas, the thumping sound is ringing through her ears as if it's the only noise in the world. When she finally pulls her eyes away to look at Lucas, he knows she's successfully holding back tears. She's quiet, but she doesn't need to say anything for him to know that she's happy.

As he kisses her, she places her free hand on his cheek, pulling him closer to her.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

An agonising scream coming from Maya's direction brings Lucas out of his thoughts, prompting him to kneel beside her and plant a much needed kiss to her forehead.

"I can't believe our baby is going to be born in the only place I hate." Maya moans into Lucas's shirt.

"I know, but the main thing is Maya, it's finally time," he tilts her chin up to kiss her gently on the lips "It's time to meet her."

Lucas knows he has to man up now, toss aside all of the anxiety of an inexperienced sixteen-year-old, and embrace the imminent birth of his daughter.
