I swiftly accepted the position.
Hell, a girl's gotta eat!
I live in a tiny studio apartment in Brooklyn. I moved here from Seattle a couple of years ago. After graduating from high school, I took a gap year to work and save up for college.
After getting the job assignment, I called my girlfriends for a quick brunch to share the great news.
The weekend blew by and then comes the first day of my assignment. I threw on the best outfit I could for my first day at my job assignment. I wore my best pencil skirt and a cute white blouse. I threw my hair up in a bun and put on a cute pair of black heels and headed straight out to catch the A-Line to the city.
After a grueling hour ride, I finally made it to the city. I stopped by a corner bakery and grabbed a latte and a blueberry scone for a quick bite to eat while on the way to the office.
I made it to the office early and met Shirley at the lobby. I got my timecard registered in the books with human resources. Shirley takes me to my post and provides me with the employee handbook to get the lay of the land.
After a couple of hours of reading the employee handbook, I went straight to work and started archiving past claims and reports in the archive room. I sat on the floor and started organizing the stacks of files. I looked around and saw the rows of filing cabinets and then I realized that I'm in for a rough time.
After my lunch break, I went back down to the archive room and continued my work. Two hours passed by, and Shirley came down to ask me to work overtime to make a huge dent at the stack of claims and report files for the Youthanize project. I agreed because I need the money.
Two large filing cabinets later, I worked on the third one, out of 250 filing cabinets. Shirley wanted to have 10 filing cabinets available by tomorrow morning. The closet they're using to house past claims and reports is getting unruly. Hours and hours have passed, and my vision starts to blur, and I start nodding off. I step out to find a clock and the time read:
11:54PM
Shit, I'm running out of time. I should just take a lap around the office to gather my bearings.
