The world had a habit of moving too fast, but Momo measured time in things that didn't matter to anyone else. The exact duration of a sunset. The number of seconds a sugar cube took to melt in hot tea. The precise moment Sakura's shoulders dropped three inches, signaling the heavy storm inside her mind had finally run out of rain.

But today, the storm was at its peak.

Slam.

The heavy wooden door of the art studio vibrated on its hinges. Sakura threw her wooden canvas onto the floor, the bright acrylic paints smudging into an ugly, chaotic blur of aggressive grays and sharp reds. Her breathing was ragged, her knuckles turning stark white as she gripped the edges of her desk.

"It's ruined," Sakura whispered, her voice shaking with a dangerous, volatile heat. "The whole thing is an absolute mess. I hate this room. I hate these brushes. I hate everything today!"

In the hallway outside, a few passing students peered through the glass window, whispering among themselves before walking away quickly. No one knew how to handle Sakura when her mood shifted. She was undeniably brilliant, but her emotions were too raw, too close to the surface. When she was angry, she built a wall of fire around herself and pushed the entire world away.

Except for Momo.

Momo didn't flinch. She had been standing quietly in the far corner of the sunlit room, cleaning the ceramic water jars with slow, rhythmic movements. With deliberate, gentle steps, she walked over to the fallen canvas. Her presence was like a soft breeze after a harsh wind—humble, polite, and completely unbothered by the surrounding chaos.

Momo knelt on the dusty wooden floor, her skirt pooling around her. With her bare fingers, avoiding the wet paint, she gently picked up the wooden frame.

"Don't touch it!" Sakura snapped, her eyes flashing with a sudden, defensive fire. "I said it's trash, Momo! Leave it alone!"

Momo looked up. Her eyes were deep, serene pools of absolute tranquility. She didn't raise her voice. She didn't offer an argument. She just offered Sakura a small, incredibly polite smile that felt like a warm blanket on a freezing night.

"The red paint on the corner looks like a flying bird, Sakura," Momo said softly, her voice a soothing, low melody. "You didn't ruin it. You just gave it a different heart."

Sakura opened her mouth to yell again, to tell Momo to leave her alone like everyone else did, but the words trapped themselves in her throat. Look at Momo—always so polite, always so deeply humble, treating Sakura's sharpest, ugliest edges with nothing but pure tenderness. It was impossible to stay furious when faced with such absolute gentleness.

Slowly, the fire in Sakura's eyes began to fade, replaced by a quiet, exhausting sadness. The anger melted away as quickly as it had arrived, leaving her looking small, fragile, and incredibly tired.

"I'm sorry," Sakura murmured, looking down at her paint-stained hands, her voice dropping to a vulnerable whisper. "I don't know why I get like this. I just... everything feels too loud inside my head sometimes."

Momo stood up, pulled a soft, clean white handkerchief from her pocket, and gently began wiping the wet paint from Sakura's trembling fingers.

"You don't have to apologize to me, Sakura," Momo whispered, her focus entirely on her task. "The sky gets angry and throws lightning sometimes too. It doesn't mean the sky isn't beautiful. It just means it needs to clear the air."

Sakura looked at Momo's calm, serene face, feeling a wave of immense gratitude wash over her. One moment she was a destructive storm, and the next, Momo's quiet presence brought her safely back to a peaceful harbor.

Finishing with the handkerchief, Momo reached into her canvas bag and placed a clean, beautiful notebook between them. Written across the cover in elegant silver ink were three words: Cotton Candy Skies.

"Your storm has passed," Momo smiled gently, her eyes crinkling warmly at the corners. "Now, let us find your smile again. Page one is waiting."
