" Edward please... " my voice came out smaller than I intended to
He chuckled

In a faraway place somewhere in the county of Sussex stood a beautiful little house made more out of love than concrete.
As much as it looked warm and comforting on the outside, it was cold and gloomy on the inside.
Inside the house, a beautiful lady sat on the floor with her head resting against the wooden frame of her bed, her eyes were out of focus as she looked ahead at nothing in particular.
While just standing at the door was a little girl of no more than eight years, who looked at the lady with a subtle sadness in her eyes, the little girl was named Nanette, she was looking at her mother trying to decipher why she had been crying day and night for the past few days, maybe she already knew, maybe the lady on the news was right, she spoke of an accident, one which had taken her dad somewhere far away, somewhere he wouldn't be able to return from.
From the corner of her eyes Lily saw her daughter standing at the door, her little hands were fisting the material of her cloth, she looked troubled trying to work her mind on how she could make her mother happy, Lily smiled and extended her arm towards Nanette, gesturing her to come.
Nanette smiled instantly and ran towards her mother snuggling into her chest, into the warm smell of cinamon and berries. Lily on the other hand couldn't stop her tears, her little daughter looked exactly like him, her husband, the love of her life, now gone.
The chocolate brown hair, the astonishing blue eyes, Nanette had gotten all of it from him and it broke her heart to see those features so close to her, yet so far away.
The little girl's eyes widened, leave? But how could they? What about the fancy dress competition? For which she and all her friends had put so much effort in, they made their own little dresses, they made all the invitations by hand, personally writing a little note for all their parents to attend, it was their heartfelt wish to put on that show, and now she was supposed to leave it all behind?
Nanette looked up at her mother with protest in her eyes, she wanted to say that they couldn't leave, not now, not when she had the invite tucked safely into her pocket, right at that moment.
But as soon as she looked into her mother's teary eyes, all her desires faded away and she whispered with a smile,
" Yes mom, let's go somewhere far away ", only she didn't know how in this world people didn't value sacrifices, especially the ones made in silence, and how her own mother would become one of those people.

Years later...
" Good morning sweetheart ", a lovely voice called out, Nanette shifted in her bed, frowning at the voice, ' who's disturbing me? '.
