The vibration of his phone against the bedside table pulled Taehyung out of his shallow sleep.

He groaned softly, eyes burning from exhaustion as he reached for the device. The room was still dim, the early morning light barely slipping through the curtains.

The moment he saw the caller ID, sleep left him completely.

Jin hyung.

Taehyung sat up slowly, careful not to disturb Nera sleeping beside him, still fully naked . She looked exhausted, strands of hair scattered across the pillow, covered with purplish hickies and his teeth marks everywhere, breathing peacefully after the long night.

For a brief second guilt flickered inside him.

Then he answered the call.

"Tae," Seokjin's voice came first, calm but tired. "I'll be in Seoul in about half an hour. Meet me at Compose Coffee before I leave for the airport."

Taehyung's grip around the phone tightened immediately.

His chest felt heavy.

Everything in his life already seemed to be collapsing one thing after another, and now this.

Meeting Seokjin meant reopening emotions he had spent years avoiding.

And honestly, he didn't think he had the strength for it today.

He barely slept. His mind was already crowded enough.

Bella's rent.

Hee Rae missing school.

The pressure of the project.

Jungkook's sudden coldness.

And the strange emptiness sitting inside him these days.

Taehyung lowered his head, rubbing his forehead tiredly.

"Hyung..." he started quietly. "I don't think I can come."

The silence from the other side lasted only a second, but it felt painfully long.

Then Seokjin laughed softly.

Not amused.

Bitter.

"I knew you'd say that."

Taehyung shut his eyes.

"It's not like that," he tried explaining quickly. "I'm already late for work and there's a lot happening right now-"

"You always have a reason."
The words were calm, but they hit harder than shouting ever could.

Taehyung went silent.

Seokjin exhaled slowly before speaking again.

"You know, Tae... sometimes you're really pathetic."

That made Taehyung's breath hitch.
Seokjin had never spoken to him like this before.

Never.

"I waited anyway," Seokjin continued, voice quieter now. "Even knowing you'd probably avoid me again."

"Hyung, please-"

"No." Seokjin cut him off this time. "You- ...you disappointed me again, Tae ."
