Part One

I looked at myself in the mirror, fixing my blonde hair before applying my favorite strawberry-flavored lip gloss. My swimsuit was really cute, perfect for showing off the curves I had worked so hard on to become sexier.

Who knows how many guys would notice it: I was really in the mood for a summer fling. I hoped to prove to myself that I could make conquests wherever I went. My friends called me a narcissist, and I didn't deny it.

They were coming to the beach with me that summer. We would be staying at my aunt and uncle's summer house, and thanks to their generosity, we were going to have a blast.

I had a bunch of good intentions: go swimming, have interesting experiences, meet people, and win over guys... so why had everything become so difficult the moment I met that damn woman?

Yuna—what kind of name was that anyway? With her already tanned skin, sea-blue eyes, and long, dark hair, always perfect. Her with her fabulous body and curves better than mine! I hated her. I didn't even know her, but I hated her! And why was that? Simple: everyone liked her, more than they liked me.

As soon as I stepped onto the beach near my accommodation, I noticed her right away: she was lying on her towel in the perfect bikini, wearing fashionable sunglasses and the expression of someone who already thought she was the queen of the beach. A lot of guys were staring at her, and even some girls—who knows if out of envy or something else. All I cared about was turning their heads my way!

I smiled dazzlingly, walking toward the water to go for a swim. I had left my things not too far from the shore so I could keep an eye on them while I was in the water. I didn't want to get robbed, and until my friends got there (they were arriving two days later), it was up to me to watch my stuff.

I swam for about ten minutes, enjoying the cool water under the scorching sun that illuminated the transparent surface of the sea, and I even managed to catch the attention of some guys playing water volleyball. Their athletic physiques made me smile, and when they invited me to join them, I accepted immediately. I had fun with them, but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, right? At one point, one of the guys—the tall, dark-haired one—called out to a certain Yuna to invite her to join the game. To my great surprise and dismay, Yuna was exactly that beautiful girl who had captured everyone's attention on the beach. She walked over to us with absurd elegance, and I saw the guys look completely mesmerized by her.

I grimaced, playing with the ball in my hands so I wouldn't have to look at the scene in front of me. How annoying. Was I really that unworthy of being noticed?

"Hey." That damn girl even had a ridiculously charming voice. That's all I needed. I brought my fingers to my hair, twirling the wet ends to pass the time.

"You finally joined us! Ah—meet Leah." Erik, the blonde guy with bright green eyes, introduced us, forcing me to look at Yuna and smile at her to make a good impression on the others. She stared at me for a moment and only returned the smile after letting her eyes trail over my entire body. What did she want from me? To evaluate who had the better body? I wasn't going to let her belittle me in any way!

We kept playing, and I tried to completely ignore Yuna's presence, but several times she ended up throwing the ball to me, maybe to make me mess up. Her eyes hid bad intentions, I was sure of it.

"Leah, why don't you spend the day with us if you don't have anything else to do? We'd love to get to know you, and I have to admit you've already won Ian over." Erik pointed to the guy who was helping his friend onto a surfboard and smiled at me. The dark-haired guy was my type, and it was probably the perfect opportunity to let loose.
