I walk down the hallway wrapped in my towel heading for the shower. I smell like sweet pwussy. Aha. I kinda think she used me to get back at Trey. But I'm far from tripping. Nicki is a true sex goddess. And now she's my sexual fantasy. Just thinking about it makes me hot and bothered. I clutched my towel tight as boys left and right whistled at me. I looked up to see a familiar sight. It was Chris. He had his head down as he looked at a slip of paper. People threw balled up pieces of paper at him calling him tons of horrid names. He ignored them and kept walking. I decided to help my nerdy friend get a few cool points. I bumped his shoulder hard and stopped behind him.

"Hey stranger." He looked up at me confused but it melted once he seen my face. He smiled in relief. He gave me a hug and people whistled. "Where you headed?"

"330." He answered. Oh sht. This year is going to be crazy. I can feel it.

"Yo that's right across from me. Here I'll show you." I led him down the hallway. All eyes were on us and I was gonna take advantage of this. "Put you arm around me." I whispered. He looked at me crooked but did so. I leaned into him for effect. "Babe I want to go out to eat tonight."

He furrowed his eyebrows at me. "Uh... What do you wanna eat?" It amused me to see the confusion on his face.

"Nothing to big... Maybe Denny's. " I suggested. Playing with the stubble under his chin I hadn't seen before.

"Uh sure... Anything for you... " He said giving in to my playful banter. We reached the room and I stopped us at the door.

"You mean that?" I pouted. I gripped his shirt pulling him close to me. The smell of old spice hit me and I smiled indulging in it. My acting skills were on Leonardo DiCaprio right now. Where's my Oscar? No shade Leo.

He smiled. "I do." He kissed my nose and we were both cheesing. It was funny to us. These hating ass people were buying it too.

"I'll be back in a hour. Ok?"

"Ight baby." This boy got smooth all of a sudden. Ok I can dig it. But the nerdy thing is cute to me.

I walk off and strut down the hallway. Leaving the haters in a stirring tailspin. As I walk down a girl stops me. People I don't even know asking me tons of questions. Popping up out of nowhere, interrogating me. Apparently most everyone here knows Chris. And are shocked to see him talking to a girl like me.

" You two are really dating?!" She asked. I didn't understand the big whoop. We're all grown right? This ain't highschool. I was finna nip this in the bud. Today.

"Yes we are. His weed? I roll that. His heart? I hold that. His back? I got that. His wife? I am that. My role? I play that. We're happy. You bitches hate that." I looked around waiting on a response but I got none. I was laying it on hella thick. But honestly I didn't care. They're acting like he's not also a human. I don't mess with that. "No more questions? Shit. I figured that." Holding my nose to the sky I continued down the hallway to the showers.

I walked out the room in my cut off booty shorts and black sports bra. I had a Jean jacket over that and I wore some flip flops. My hair was still wet so I threw it in a messy bun and tied a black bandana around my edges. These shorts were a little tight my ass was starting to hang out of them. And I just got these a few weeks ago. I had on my fake nerd glasses to match his real ones. I knock on the door and wait.

"It's open." I hear. I open the door not to see Chris but Trey. I roll my eyes.

"Where's Chris?"

"Oh so you the one that got everyone talking... They haven't talked about him this much since he threw up on himself at the dance." He chuckled.

"Thank you for that." Chris said sarcastically as he emerged from the bathroom. I examined him. He wore cut off jean shorts, a black tank, and a jean jacket. We were actually matching... On accident.

"This sht is weird." Trey said getting up. "Y'all mufuckas done known each other for two hours now y'all dating and matching and sht." He fussed. "Fuck outta here with that sht." He disappeared into the bathroom.

"Sorry... About that. Uh you ready?" He asked. Trey is something else.

"Uh yea. Let's go."

•••••••••••••••

"Bruh I still can't believe we did that!" He fussed.

"Chris come on. We stole some candy and two sodas! Get a grip." I laughed.

"We? I didn't touch anything. You stole that."

"But you sure was snacking in that movie theater!" I yelled laughing. We were down the street from the school and I was still having the time of my life. Ok slight exaggeration. Whatever.

"Sure was." He joked. We laughed some more and let it subside. "Bey... I want to say thanks. You know for what you did in the hallway. And for what you said to that girl. You didn't have to do that. So I want you to know I'm appreciative."

"You're welcome. Why are they like that anyway? It's not like your ugly."

"Oh so you saying I'm cute?" He asked playfully.

"I'm saying your attractive. Now answer my question. Why do they treat you like that? Better yet why do you let them? You're grown."

"Honestly I don't know. It's hard for me to... Find that confidence I guess. I just don't need to address people. It doesn't matter to me. I don't really care. It happened so much growing up I'm sorta numb to it. Now... I just let it roll. I don't need to feed into it."

"Chris if you rolling with me... You can't do that. You can't be passive."

"I'm not passive." He said growing slightly defensive. I rolled my eyes, chuckling

"Everything you just told me screamed passive. You need to tell people straight up. Even if it's a lie." I explained. "Like today. We didn't even know each other but I told her what it was like a boss. Even though none of it was true. Confidence in who you are and what you believe in is crucial. Or else you're on this earth for nothing. You don't even have your own voice." He pondered my words. Letting them sink in. We walked on silence as he absorbed all my vital advice.

"That was pretty deep." He said in a shocked tone.

"Why you sound surprised?" I was faking the offense.

"You just don't seem like that girl." He spoke honestly. "You seem more young and reckless than the old soul wise guy."

"I'm neither. I'm just living my life." I shrugged. "And 20 years is a long time to a twenty year old."

"I can feel that."

"Chris are you a virgin?"

"Blunt aren't we?"

I smirked. "Thought you knew Playboy..."

"Well if you must know, I'm not a virgin. But I sometimes wish I was."

"Why?"

"Cause... What if my wife had saved herself for me after all these years and I didn't do the same? Those are the things I think about."

"I hope not often. Those aren't essentials you should occupy your everyday brain space with." We neared the entrance. He took out his key letting us in and we asked to the elevator.

"Eh. I guess you're right..." We walked to our doors and stood there awkwardly.

"I had a great time. I haven't laughed that much in a while." I spoke truthfully.

"I did to. But uh I just wanna know... was this a date?"

"It's whatever you want it to be baby boy." And with a wink I was in my room with my door closed. I stripped to my undies and laid in my bed drifting to sleep.
