Penny never went looking for him.
She was sixteen the first time she saw Jamie - standing in a corridor like he owned the air around him, tall and bright and completely unaware of the quiet girl watching from the edges. She told herself it meant nothing. She told herself that a girl still learning the sound of her own name had no business being drawn to someone like that.
But the feeling didn't leave.
Years later, through a mutual friend, Penny finally enters Jamie's world. And what she finds up close is not what the crowd sees. Beneath the charm and the charisma is a man carrying something heavy - a grief so deep it has fractured him in places he will never show anyone. Penny loves him anyway.
