Halos 5 AM na ay hindi pa rin dalawin ng antok si Maddie. Kaya naman lumabas siya ng kwarto at tumambay sa terrace sa second floor ng rest house, ang buong akala niya, ay siya na lang ang gising sa barkada, pero nagkakamali siya….
Habang nakatayo si Maddie at nakatanaw sa malayo, ang mga kamay niya ay nakahawak sa veranda, biglang nag ring ang phone niya….sinagot naman niya agad ang tawag…
“Hello,Babe! Good morning! Did I wake you up? Sorry I had to call you right now, I know It’s too early there…. I…”
“No, it’s okay.. no worries… actually, hindi pa ako makatulog eh… 3AM na rin kami natapos, pero until now, hindi pa ako natutulog…”, pagputol ni Madeline sa sinasabi ni Lance.
“Oh… I see… ahm, how’s your get-together? Nag eenjoy ka ba?”, pangangamusta ni Lance sa fiancé.
“ahm, everything’s fine! We had so much fun! We have missed each other big time! Ahm…”, tuloy-tuloy na nag kkwento si Maddie at mababakas ang excitement sa boses niya.
Si Lance naman ang pumutol sa sinasabi ng kausap, “is my brother there? Kasama nyo ba si Andrew?”
“ah….ahm… y…yeah… he…he’s with us…. “, medyo nataranta bigla si Maddie sa tanong ng fiancé..
“ahm… do you miss me? Babe….”, may himig ng pagkabahala sa tinig ng binata.
“o…of course…I do… I miss you… ahm… you’ll be coming this week, right?”
“ahm.. Babe, that’s the thing…I…I will not be able to make it this week… I… I have to stay here for less than 3 months.. I’m so sorry… Gary just won’t let me go without finishing everything he has me to do…and there’s this project that we still need to finish right away…we have to work with the team.. you know….”, mahabang pagpapaliwanag ni Lance sa nobya. Si Gary ay ang boss ni Lance na dati ring nakatrabaho ni Madeline sa NYC.
“ah… I… I understand…. That’s… that’s okay…I know Gary… may pagka OC yun sa work kaya minsan tumatagal talaga ang mga projects…s…sige… don’t worry….”
, pinipilit pangatwiranan ni Maddie ang dahilan ng nobyo kung bakit ito matatagalan sa pag uwi sa Pilipinas, kahit na hindi siya komportable…
“I’m so sorry, Maddie… I’ll make it up to you..I promise…. Ah, if you need me to do anything for the preparation of our wedding, just call me or send me an email… anything…I would do anything to help you even if I’m not there…okay?”, sinusubukan ni Lance na pagaanin ang loob ni maddie,
“ahm… okay… yeah…. I understand you’re gonna be busy there…kaya na naming ditto… I don’t want to bother you anymore…. No need to worry about me here…”, sinusubukan ni Madeline na intindihin ang nobyo, pero may iba siyang nararamdaman
So it means, 3 months before their wedding, tsaka pa lang makakauwi sa pinas itong si Lance…
“ahm, Babe… you have to rest now…I know you’re tired… I have to go, too… I still have to work on some things… I love you.. Bye!”, nagmamadaling nag paalam si lance at kaagad na ibinaba ang phone.
