Ianto strode up to Jack's office, coffee mug in one hand and a plate in the other. Since the rift forecast said it would be quiet, Jack had sent the rest of the team home for a rare but well earned rest, so the usually busy hub felt silent and echoey, and even Myfanwy was huddled in her nest, sleeping. In fact, Jack had probably meant for Ianto to go home too, but Ianto didn't have anything better to do. And besides, he knew Jack would miss his morning coffee. The door was slightly ajar, and Ianto knew Jack would have already heard his approach, so he forwent knocking and nudged the door open, striding in. "Good morning, sir." "Ianto, we talked about this," Jack sighed, grinning slightly at him. Ianto's stomach flipped. "We did - however, I'm still technically on duty and therefore it is appropriate for me to call you sir. Sir." Ianto set the mug and plate down on Jack's desk amid the messy piles of paperwork. "Ianto! Did you make these?" Jack had finally clocked the pancakes, drizzled ith maple syrup just how Ianto knew he liked them. "Yes sir." Jack shook his head, smiling. "These look delicious, I don't know how you do it." Ianto, remembering the state of the kitchen after Jack's failed attempt to make pancakes a few months ago, smiled slightly. "Family secret, sir. My mam used to make pancakes better than these." Ianto started to tidy up the desk as Jack ate, a task he knew was ultimately futile, but, well... The hub was empty, the rift quiet, and Jack was eyeing him speculatively in that way that always made him feel slightly lightheaded. If he didn't move them, the papers would end up scattered across the floor. He picked up the last pile as Jack finished, coming round the desk and placing them in a drawer. He went to move back again, but Jack's firm grasp on his wrist stopped him. "Ianto Jones, those were quite possibly the best pancakes I've ever had, and considering my lifespan, that's quite an accomplishment." Ianto felt his breath stutter slightly. "But I distinctly remember telling everyone to take a day off." Jack was still holding his wrist. Warmth spread through the contact. "So why are you still here?" "It's pancake day, and I wanted to make you some, sir." The smile Jack shot him was nothing short of devilish. "What must I do to make you call me Jack?" Ianto smiled slightly. "Well, I can think of a few things. Jack." Ianto wasn't sure who kissed who, but Jack tasted of pancakes.
