Felix was walking on the sidewalk as his music was blasting into his headphones. He was completely oblivious of the outside world surrounding him since all he could feel was the vibrations through his eardrums, trying to forget this whole day.
His eyes were focused on the ground, watching his feet following the rhythm from the songs he was playing on his phone.
It was the end of the day and the rain was starting to fall on him. Just what he needed to complete this moody scenery.
Felix was going to cross the road when suddenly a hooked handle of an umbrella caught his shoulder, yanked him back and made him fall on his butt.
A loud honk was heard as the car who almost hit the young man drove off, the driver flipping the bird out the window.
Felix shook his head trying to gather his thoughts and took out his headphones before finally raising his gaze up to the owner of that umbrella who pretty much saved his life.
It was a man he'd never seen before.
His hair was long and black, tied in a half bun with some strands of hair framing his face beautifully. His stance was rather intimidating. He seemed quite strong under his long coat. He had broad shoulders but his face was soft and perfectly symmetrical. He was very handsome.
He had his ears pierced with multiple earrings and had a tattoo across his throat, continuing down his collarbones, maybe even further.
His almond shaped eyes were almost black, staring back at Felix still on the ground.
"Th-thank you, I guess.", Felix said rubbing his shoulder as he felt a slight pain.
Felix stretched out his arm for the strange man to help him stand back up but all he got from him was a stern look before he turned around and walked away without a word.
Felix frowned and let his arm fall back down in disbelief. He looked around embarrassed about this whole situation and lifted himself back up. He brushed off some dirt on his jeans and sighed, thinking to himself once again what a shitty day it had been.
Once he arrived at his appartment, he took off his shoes, coat and scarf before entering the bathroom right away. He sighed again staring at his reflection in the mirror.
His bleached blonde hair was all tangled because of the wind. He knew he should've had tied it up in a bun or something but he'd been in a rush that morning. The bags under his eyes looked bigger and bigger. He hadn't find sleep for three days. As soon as he'd fallen asleep an eerie feeling was choking him and waking him up covered in sweat.
He took his clothes off and hopped in the bathtub turning the hottest water on. Once the temperature reached hell levels he went under the stream, feeling his tensed muscles slightly relax. He hated being cold. Nothing soothed him more than hot water ruisseling down his skin.
After the shower he put some sweatpants on and went shirtless into the kitchen to eat something. His lean torso showed defined abs that were a little sore. He was trying to feel better, so on his best friend's advise, he subscribed to a gym membership and had started working out.
Chris showed him some exercises made for his body, since Chris' had nothing in common with his. He was built like a power house, capable of lifting 180kg easily. Chris was a big bear hug and Felix was more of a soft stroke on the cheek.
Felix loved his best friend so much. He considered him as his rock. The person keeping him from falling down. He was an optimistic man, whereas Felix felt always defeated. He was cheering him up as much as possible so Felix grew dependent on it.
Their friendship was pretty recent but it felt as though they've known each other for ever.
Felix ate his dinner quickly and cleaned the table before washing and putting away his dishes. He went back to the bathroom to brush his teeth, staring at his own eyes in the mirror. They were lifeless.
He felt this empty pit in his stomach. He took a deep breath in and released it slowly, trying to control his emotions.
Since the accident, nothing ever felt the same. He came back but something was definitely missing. Life felt a bit off. Each day had been a burden for no reason. Sometimes he even felt cursed.
He spit in the sink and gargled water before spitting it out again and put away his toothbrush before turning the lights off and heading to his bedroom.
He took his phone out and started writing to Chris.
"Hi ! Mind if I call ?"
Seconds later, Chris started a video call. Felix grinned and answered, seeing Chris' face appear on his screen.
"Hello !", Chris said smiling widely to the camera of his laptop. "What's up pretty boy ?"
"Nothing, just wanted to chat a little bit before trying to go to sleep, you know.."
"Shitty day again ?", Chris asked simply.
"The usual"., Felix answered, shrugging. "Well, actually, something new happened."
He remembered the strange black haired man that made him fall earlier.
"What happened ? Did you get paint on your hair again ?", Chris laughed remembering that time Felix walked under a balcony where a woman was painting and dropped her brush dirrectly onto his head. He had a red stain on his blonde hair for a week.
"No, not that again, thank god.", Felix smiled. "Well it could've been so much worse actually. I was walking home with my headphones on and-"
"Felix I told you multiple times to not do that ! It's dangerous in the streets.", Chris said, cutting him off.
"I know, I know.", Felix brushed off. "And you couldn't be more right because I was gonna cross the road and a car almost hit me if it wasn't for this man."
"What the hell Felix !"
"I still hurt my ass though, and my feelings...", Felix continued, ignoring Chris' "I told you sos". "He was handsome, you should have seen his face. There was something about him that felt like... Grand, I don't know. Even though he's a jackass and left me on my ass on the sidewalk in front of everybody and just left without even an ounce of sympathy whatsoever !", he rambled on.
Chris was listening carefully. His brows furrowing.
"What did that man look like ?", he asked.
"Black long hair, neck tattoo. He was tall, really good looking. There's something about him I can't put my finger on. I mean, it happened in like a split second but I felt...", Felix was searching for the right words. "I felt relieved."
He stopped talking, thinking about it for a moment. He shook his head, giggling.
"I guess I would since he literally saved my life."
Chris went quiet for a moment too. Felix noticed.
"Okay well, you must be tired I'm sorry I'm gonna go."
"No ! No I just... I thought that... I mean.", Chris stuttered. He cleared his throat and started again. "Did he say something to you ? His name by any chance ?"
Felix frowned then answered.
"Yeah no, I did say thank you but he stared at me and just left me there. That was very embarrassing. What, do you know him or something ?", he asked.
"No !", Chris kind of shouted. "No. Not ringing any bells.", he yawned theatrically. "You're right I am tired. Talk to you tomorrow, alright ? Love you Lix, bye !"
And just like that the call was ended.
"What the hell was that about ?", Felix said out loud.
He put his phone to charge and turned the lights off before lying his head on his pillow, staring at the wall in front of him. He sighed, turning on his back. There was no chance in hell he would sleep tonight.
