Found it.

He'd located the source for the screaming from his patient, or at least he thought he did.

It was a gash on his face and it was deep. It had a piece of flesh sticking out and was that.... bone? It needed to be closed immediately. First, Disinfectant. He held the gash open and sprayed it in liberally, drawing strangled cries from his patient.

Now that was done, he grabbed the flesh sealer, a device which fused together parted skin and muscle and sealed the gash shut. Sure enough, the patient's choked cries turned into pained but quieter mumbling almost immediately. Good, he thought. That's progress.

The man on the table was scared. As he watched the tall, faceless creature stand up and leave, he tried to scream and he tried to beg. But he couldn't.

It had sealed his mouth shut.
