December 15th, 1982

Freddie watched a small woman, who stood outside the coffee shop.

It was fifteen degrees out, maybe colder now, she must be freezing.

The poor dear.

The wind blew her brunette locks about her pale face.

This made him think of a little china doll.

She looked about, still not seeing the man who was supposed to be here for a date.

She pulled her coat closer to her body and finally stepped inside the shop.

The winter had become unusually cruel in Colorado.

She took a seat at the end of the building and pressed her fingers against her temple in hopes of relieving a headache she now had.

"Miss...Miss?" The young blond headed waitress pulled her away from her thoughts. "What can I get ya?"

"Earl Grey, hot." She paused forgetting her manners. "Please."

"Coming right up."

"Thank you"

She rested her head in her hands, her eyes covered. For a long moment she stayed like this, before averting her attention over to the window.

People passed.

Crowds bustling about to get Christmas shopping out of the way.

Lately it had become more crowded and busy.

People pouring in for a Queen concert that would be happening within the week.

'Poor guys.' She thought. 'Standing out in the cold to sing and play.'

It just seemed like a bad time to be in Colorado.

Maybe those bright stage lights would keep them warm.

She wouldn't know though, she didn't plan on going, couldn't afford it.

"Once I rose above the noise and confusion, just to get a glim......"

Wait she knew this song.

Her head immediately perked up as Kansas came onto the radio.

He silently mouthed the song to himself, unable to help it.

"Fred?"

"Huh?" He look over to Brian, who was looking expectantly at him.

"What do you think?" He asked again.

"Of what, dear?"

"Canceling the concert!"

"No, no. Absolutely not, the show must go on."

The subject was dropped after that.

She continued to think to herself after the waitress brought her tea.

No date, so her night just went down the drain.

Maybe she should just go hom-

Hotel, go to the hotel, have a night to herself.

She couldn't go home, a pipe had burst and flooded her house the day before.
