Caroline loved being pregnant. Of course, the babies were Siphoners, so it did make pregnancy a lot harder, but feeling them kick was worth it. The breath was painful, but it was beautiful as well. She loved watching her girls grow from babies who needed their mother's constant attention to toddlers who were curious about the world, then to teenagers, and finally to young women. She always wondered what would happen if she had another child, but it was a miracle she even had them.
Caroline didn't wish for much, but she wanted to get her life on track this time—no accidents, no deaths that she could prevent. This was going to be the life she needed: no overworking herself to death because she forgot to eat, no raising another woman's children no matter how much she loved them unless it was absolutely necessary.
Caroline technically hadn't slept with Klaus yet in this part of the timeline, but she didn't want the house leaving for New Orleans without her, and she also didn't want Hayley leaving either without her. She was hoping to stop whatever happened in New Orleans before it could get worse.
Of course, Caroline knew a little secret. Elena had slept with an original, and of course, she didn't blame her friend. She loved sleeping with Klaus and had no shame about it either; they don't make original men the way they make regular ones. Caroline knew that Elena and Kol were secretly talking to each other. It had started at that Mikaelson ball, but it had ended after Kol was dead.
Elena had cried when Kol died. She hadn't expected the Brothers to kill him. No one had told her, and she had even been working on a way to bring him back, but Bonnie wouldn't do it, so Elena knew it couldn't happen.
Caroline made a few stops throughout her day. She stopped at a lottery shop and bought a ticket for past memories. She knew some of the winning lottery numbers, and maybe if she had money, her mother wouldn't have to work so much.
Plus, she didn't want to get a job so soon, and living off her mother's money—even at her current age—would not sit well with Caroline. Jeremy would still be in Denver, so Caroline wouldn't have to worry about that. She knew she might go to New Orleans if Klaus wanted to go there and if Hayley still planned to go there, but she was hoping they wouldn't leave so soon.
Either way, she didn't want to leave her mother. Even if she had to move soon, she could try to convince her mother to retire and visit New Orleans or move with her.
She missed her mother so much after she died. She turned off her humanity. She felt lost without her mother, Caroline, especially when she was human and took advantage of her mother. She loved her, but she thought her mother was too stern and too strict about rules. However, as a vampire, Caroline truly understood her; her mother knew about vampires and the risks involved. She was just trying to protect her only daughter. After becoming a vampire, Caroline became much more appreciative of her mother.
Her mother was still human; after all, she knew she had a limited amount of time with her. After her mother's death, she wished she had more time.
Caroline had gone shopping and bought a few new clothes. She was planning on wearing one of them. She would definitely hide this from her mother; after all, Caroline was only 17, but this was her choice to make. Caroline originally had a plan in her first life, even though she was a vampire. It never stopped her from living a regular human life—at least that's what she was taught.
Caroline thought she could still get the job, the house, and the white picket fence, but she realized being part of the supernatural world meant you never get what you want—not without having to fight tooth and nail for it.
She didn't know what would happen after tonight, but she knew she would willingly participate in whatever was going to occur.
Around 6 o'clock, Caroline went back home and changed into a beautiful outfit with the new clothes she had bought underneath it. She knew tonight she was either going to get lucky or get kicked out. Klaus had never been able to say no to her before, but there was always a first time for everything.
Not including the technicalities with Hayley, this would be their first time meeting. She didn't know who else had their memories back and whether Hailey or Klaus had them; it would make things more interesting, but she wasn't quite sure.
Technically, Hayley broke Caroline's neck. Caroline should be upset, but Hayley was right. She didn't deal with teenage drama, and Caroline was definitely being possessive of Tyler at the time. It was something she had worked through over the years and had gotten over. She was ready for whatever was to come.
She knew Klaus had already taken Hayley from the Lockwood home, which meant he had made the deal to protect Hayley from Katherine. So she grabbed her car keys and started heading there, ready to crash for the night and hopefully not regret her decision.
It took a while to get to the Mikaelson Manor. She had been here a few times when Elena stole her prom dress during the ball; both times, she got what she wanted. Hopefully, third time's a charm.
As she pulled up and parked, she could hear music playing. The house was mostly soundproofed, but with vampire hearing, she could still hear it. She got out of the car and pulled herself together. After a few minutes of composing herself, she walked over to the front door. Instead of knocking, she walked right in.
She was quiet when she entered, barely making a noise; she knew both Hayley and Klaus would be distracted.
She was not disappointed when she walked into the living room. She saw Hayley dancing with a bottle of bourbon in hand and Klaus sitting on the couch without a shirt on.
Caroline let out a fake cough to get their attention.
Of course, both Klaus and Hayley heard this and stopped what they were doing to look at her.
"What are you doing here? I didn't expect you tonight," Klaus said, looking at Caroline. He always had affection in his eyes when he looked at her.
"You're the Barbie vampire, right? That's what Damon calls you, right?" Hayley said, clearly drunk, though Caroline could hear a bit of recognition, which confused her. Hayley shouldn't have that familiarity with Caroline yet, except for the incident inside Tyler's house.
Before Caroline could clearly process whatever was going on with Hayley, Hayley had already gotten off the table, walked over to Caroline, grabbed her hand, and pulled her onto the table with her to start dancing again.
Of course, Caroline started dancing too after Hayley had put some alcohol in her mouth. She began feeling some of the effects, but not much due to her being a vampire; still, she was happy to party. Klaus didn't seem to mind either. If anything, he was enjoying it—he loved watching Caroline go wild.
That night, Caroline truly did things she never expected to do. Of course, she had slept with Klaus in the woods, but it wasn't like this; Klaus had slept with both her and Hayley that night—and it was amazing. She didn't regret it at all. She thought she might feel a little bit of regret; after all, she was only 17.
But the next morning, things got even weirder.
Hello everyone, to all my readers: I do like the book "2nd Chance," but I am taking a huge break from it until further notice. I'm going to redo it, but in a different way. To be truly honest, I love Klaus and Hayley, but I also love Caroline and Klaus, and I believe Klaus should end up with two women. I've read a book where he ended up with both of these two women, and I loved it. Of course, the book was different, but I think it should also apply here.
I understand if this isn't for you; if it isn't, you can always leave or continue reading. I would like you to comment on what you think is going to happen next or what you think about the book. I love hearing everything you guys have to say about it.
