(Everyone will remember that)

No one expected that answer; some believed that Mecha Man was just bluffing to sound brave, but others, though they wouldn't admit it, felt admiration for Mecha Man's will despite the current situation.

Sadly, Robert interpreted that silence as a way of saying that his answer had no impact or that they didn't believe him.

Mecha Man: So... does anyone have another question? Preferably someone from this century.

At that, a woman stood up to ask the next question.

Reporter 3: Betty Brant, substitute reporter for the Daily Bugle, speaking on behalf of my boss, J.J Jameson.

Robert just sighed at the sound of that name, because he knew the questions he was about to hear were going to focus on his arachnid best friend.

Betty Brant: As we all know, you and Spider-Man have worked together on several occasions, to the point that you're considered one of the city's heroic duos. And lately, Spider-Man has been showing up around town much more than before. So it's quite strange that he hasn't shown up to help a great friend of his.

Robert was just waiting for him to ask his questions about Spidey.

Betty Brant: That leads me to my questions:

- "Why wasn't Spider-Man there to help you in your confrontation with Shroud? "

- "Did you ask for his help and And he refused to do it, or perhaps he abandoned you? "

- "Was he somehow involved in the trap that was set for you?"

- " Did he even care that you were in a coma for 4 months?"

Again, Robert sighed, because those questions were far too incriminating for Spider-Man. It was more than obvious that Jameson was looking for an answer he could use to further tarnish the web-slinger's image.

He took his time to carefully consider his response. He didn't want to cause his friend any more pain, especially given the state of things between them after the accident.

Mecha Man: Okay, before I answer, I'll just say that Jonah should at least try to be less obvious about his intentions.

He said sarcastically, eliciting a nod from Betty, implying that she agreed with what Robert said.

Mecha Man: And to answer your questions, I want to be absolutely clear ....

He took one last breath and continued speaking

Mecha Man: If Jonah is stupid enough to believe that Spiderman didn't care that I was hospitalized, then it's a mystery how on earth he became your boss ...

That caused everyone in the room to laugh, especially Miss Brant.

Mecha Man: Spiderman has never stopped watching my back. The nurses confirmed that he was the one who visited me most often while I was still unconscious.

Mecha Man: And It's true that Spiderman wasn't there when I confronted Shroud, but it wasn't because he abandoned me or because he was involved. Which is quite stupid and ridiculous of your boss to think that.

He said the last part in a passive-aggressive tone.

Mecha Man: Spiderman wasn't there because I didn't tell him what I was planning to do. I hid the truth from him.

He said with complete seriousness and honesty

Mecha Man: Otherwise, he wouldn't have hesitated to come help me despite his current condition, and that's exactly why I didn't tell him. I have no problem risking my own life, but I would never be able to risk the life of my best friend.
