One second you're holding your mother's hand, the next she's gone. It's the annual Star Festival in Kamone so of course its crowded, you've never been here before. You look in every direction but you see no sign of your family. With teary eyes you sit on a bench, what else can a 10 year old do?

You look at all the children with their families in jealousy, what you didn't realize was someone was watching you from afar. Suddenly a blonde boy walks up to you, he's also dressed in traditional clothing and he's got something on his back but you were too sad to care at that point. You look at him with teary eyes.

"Lost?" The blonde boy had a look of concern on his face.

You just nod, not really trusting him. Mother always taught you not to trust strangers.

The boy takes out his hand, expecting you to grab it. You take a better look at him, he doesn't seem evil. You hesitantly grab his hand and sit up. You two begin walking through the crowded festival.

"What do your parents look like?" The blonde boy doesn't look at you, he just guides you through the crowd.

You stayed silent asking yourself to tell this random boy how your parents look like. Ah what the heck. What can he even do with that information anyway, plus he seems nice. "A lady with red hair and navy blue eyes wearing a purple kimono. Like mine."

The boy looks back at you and nods. "I'm Minamoto Teru. You? I'm assuming you're not from around here."

You look straight at him. "Kiyama Yume. No. No, I'm from America." You sorta whispered that last part but he heard it.

It was pretty silent for a while, and the less crowded the festival became. You guys were still holding hands, he actually had his hand pretty tight on yours. You start getting worried, you start imagining the worse. You stop in your tracks, did Mother leave you? You were always seen as a crybaby.

Minamoto immedietly looks at you, noticing the scared look on your face and how teary your eyes are becoming. "Hey. We'll find your parents. Does your mother like fireworks?"

That random question turned your sadness into confusion. "What does fireworks-" You yelled at him.

"Yes or no." Minamoto cuts you off.

"Color. She likes things with color. I guess."

He nods and pulls you towards where they were setting up the fireworks. Your stomach growled, you look around at the food stands. The boy leading you notices.

"We still got time before the fireworks start. Let's get you something to eat."

You nod, this boy is too kind to you. Minamoto leads you to a nearby food stand.

"Wait. I don't have any money-"

"Thats fine. I got some." Minamoto cuts you off. "What do you want?"

You look around at what people are eating. "I'm not picky." You said, I mean this boy can't just buy you whatever you want.

While he was ordering food, he go of your hand and you sat by a nearby bench. You swing your legs while you where looking at him. You wondered why he was so nice to you, a random girl he found crying. Your hand was sweaty from holding his.

He snapped you out of your thoughts when he sat down next to you and handed you a plate of food. You thanked him and began eating.

"So, what made you come here?" Minamoto asks, I guess he trying to end this awkward silence.

"Mother was born here, in this city. We came to visit my grandparents." You looked up at the star-filled sky.

"Hm." Minamoto said in response.

Silence. It was awkward, you were just eating.

You finished your food and threw it away in a nearby trashcan. Minamoto starts to laugh.

"You're a messy eater, Kiyama." He covers his mouth with his hand. Your face had crumbs on it. "Here." He hands you a napkin.

Your eyes widen as you take the napkin and wipe your face as fast as you can.

Minamoto grabs your hand again and leads you to the fireworks. When you guys were halfway there you see them up in the sky. You were in awe, it isn't the same in America.

Now we made it to the super crowded place, they squeezed in. Minamoto made sure to grab your hand super hard so you wouldn't be seperated from him.

"Yume!" A voice called out, it was Mother.

Minamoto let go of your hand and you went running to your mother. Your mother began to scold you for wandering off but she then noticed a boy behind you. She quickly bowed.

"Thank you for returning my daughter." said Mother.

As you waved him goodbye, you took a really good look at him, he was cute. I wonder if you'd ever see him again. Maybe not. Couple days later, you went home.
