Volume 3: Rekindling

Feeling his mouth go dry, in a voice that was as equally weak as his self-assurance, YN whispered under his breath.

YN: Subaru...? How did you—?

As he silently said this to himself, YN, as if in a trance, turned to get out of the bed. Moving under the covered, he flipped them over, but as soon as he went to stand—

Rem: Guest-sama. Please stay put. The situation of the

YN: Subaru... how did you—?

As soon as YN went to turn to get out of bed, Rem blocked his way.

Rem: Please remain in bed for now. It is clear Guest-sama is not yet aware of his surroundings.

Moved so that she would not permit YN to leave his bed, the maid's voice and body language were all very stern, in that she would not easily yield.

Yet—

YN: N-No, R-Rem, hold on a minute, if this isn't some kind of prank, something is—

Shifting himself to the other side of the bed to try and get up and off from that half, Rem placed a hand on his shoulder as he went to try and lift himself from the bed.

Rem: —Guest-sama.

After still trying to get up, YN instead was brought back to his original posture upon waking up.

In his current state of confusion, as his vision went to showing nothing but the now familiar ornate ceiling again, YN couldn't at first understand why this was. Entering his austere upward stare though, was the blue-haired maid.

With suspicion written on her face, he realized only then that it had been Rem who forced him back down.

The maid had, utilizing some sort of strength he didn't think she was capable of, pushed him back down, which could only mean she meant for him to seriously stay where he was.

Before either of them could say a word on that though, both of their attentions were taken up by the door to the guest room slamming open, and the very last blur of Subaru running out was seen, hands over his head in distress, leaving a messy bed.

Alarmed at this, Rem finally turned away from YN, and with concern on her voice, she looked to her twin-sister.

Rem: Nee-sama? Did he—?

Ram: —Ram is fine. Only that guest of ours suddenly bolted away before she could do anything about it. He had been mumbling something about a promise, and Ram believed him to be too confused to make a run for it.

Unsure of what to do, it was clear Rem was in some kind of annoyance to what Subaru had done. With a hand to her chest, she looked between Ram and the flung open door.

Rem: Shall we give chase? He will only get himself lost in the Mansion more than likely.

Sighing in response, Ram folded her arms and shook her head.

Ram: No, this shall be Ram's responsibility to bear.

Rem: Nee-sama... Please, allow Rem to—

Ram: —Rem, wait here with our other guest, unless he too decides to take a self-guided tour as well. Ram will first inform Emilia-sama of this and then go look for him herself. In fact, it may be Emilia-sama he is looking for.

Rem: Nee-sama, Emilia-sama should be—

Ram: —Yes. Which is why Ram is going to her first.

Slightly relieved by her words, the logic seemed to make sense for Rem, and she nodded to the pink-haired maid's words.
