"Koenraad what the fuck are you doing here?" He asks me.
That is most definitely Mr Peace. I rub my eyes with the palms of my hand and squint my eyes so I can try to see properly. My vision slowly starts to come back as I notice Mr Peace isn't wearing on his usual suit.
He has on a pair of jeans and a normal black t-shirt which defines his body. He looks nice, yet a bit different...but in a good way.
"I...I wanted to have a drink" I say gesturing towards my half empty glass.
I clearly see him roll his eyes as he leans his arm on the table.
"You're so disrespectful it's unbelievable". He spits out without any concern towards me.
I feel my eyes starting to water and soon enough the water works start.
"I...I'm so sorry" I say letting out a sob.
"Stop crying" He says from besides me.
He puts a hand over his eyes and shakes his head.
"I...m..my life is so shit right now Mr Peace, it's horrible. I..I never wanted to get into business. My dad...he..I did it for him, just for him. When I started working for you I expected it to be fine but then when you always started shouting at me I realised how horrible of a personal assistant I was. To be honest, I didn't even know what my job role was until you mentioned it and my personal life...that's more of a mess. Me and Gerry...we were dating since high school and ever since I came back from college, ever since then we've been having these arguments. For the first time today he made me cry and I just wanted to be alone so I came here. I thought that after he proposed to me things would have gotten better but they're just the same. I'm sorry if me coming here is disrespectful...I'm so sorry" Taking my glass I drink down the rest of it and wipe my tears with the back of my hands.
"Go home Koenraad" He says before drinking his beer.
"I don't want to go home Mr Peace...I don't want to see him" I say truthfully.
"Just get home" He says again through gritted teeth.
"I know that man that was in your office is your dad. He looked exactly like you...he's your dad, isn't he?" I ask him.
He sighs out and motions for the bar lady placing his money on the counter. She takes it and I watch Mr Peace stand out finishing his drink off in seconds. How did he manage to drink it so fast, does he drink beer all the time or something?
"Come here Koenraad" He walks behind me and puts an arm around my waist getting me out of my chair. I suddenly stat to feel a bit uncomfortable from the sudden touch of his body on mine but when he starts to help me walk it gets better. He has nice big arms. I find myself leaning my head on his nice comfortable shoulder as he takes me outside of the bar. "Where's your car?" He asks me.
I weakly point to my right and he starts walking me towards the direction.
"Black one" I tell him.
We carry on walking until I see my car coming closer towards my view.
"Where's your keys?"
"Front jean pocket" I know that he wasn't going to get out so I straighten myself away from him and begin to get it out when a sudden gush comes through me making me lose balance of my feet.
I find myself about to fall down when Mr Peace catches me by placing his arm around my waist yet again.
"You really are an idiot" He mutters to himself.
I feel his hand go inside my jean pocket as he digs for my car keys. Through half hooded eyes I watch his concentrated face as he tries to find the keys in my pocket. I can feel that he's found it and soon enough his hand is out.
Unlocking my car he takes me around to the passenger side and helps me sit down in the seat. Relief hits my back as I sink into the seat closing my eyes in relaxation. I hear the sound of the car door shutting causing me to open my eyes.
Mr Peace has his phone by his ear and is talking to someone. He helped me...he actually helped me. I knew there was a soft side to him...I mean it's like he comforted me or anything, him taking me back to my car is enough evidence.
Suddenly the door to the other side opens and another man is sitting in the seat. Who the hell is this and what is he doing in my car?
"Can I please have your address?" He asks with a sophisticated tone- he must be British.
"I don't want to go home" I argue back like a child.
The man gives me a look and looks over to the window on my side. The door suddenly opens making me hold onto the man's arm that was sitting next to me.
"Give him your parents address Koenraad" Mr Peace says in defeat. Turning back to the man I tell him mum and dad's address to which he replies ok. "Let's get one thing straight Koenraad" I look back at Mr Peace who is looking me dead in the eye like he always does. "If you aren't on time for work tomorrow, consider yourself fired" He slams the door shut and the car moves off taking me to mum and dad's house.
What just happened?
***********
This is officially the worst headache ever. Looking around my room I let out a yawn and look at the clock. Shit, I have ten minutes to get ready. Confronting dad last night was horrible. He kept saying I told you so I told you so.
I told him about mine and Gerry's engagement and he wasn't very happy about it. Other than that we never got to talk much because he told me to go and get some sleep. Yesterday's events are still as clear as glass.
Mine and Mr Peace's conversation was very emotional if you could say. From my side it was emotional and from his side it was quieter. I know that he wasn't going to tell me about that man but he knew that I was drunk.
He now knows about me and Gerry as well, I told my boss about my whole life. I can think about this another time, I need to get ready. Sitting down for a few minutes I get myself together and then dash into the bathroom so I can brush my teeth.
Mum and dad never bothered touching my room which was a good thing. Once I brush my teeth I take a look in the mirror at my state. My hair was all over the place. Taking the nearby hair brush I brush all of the knots out until it's left wavy.
Going through the bangs I fluff it out until it's all straight and even. I hope Mr Peace doesn't mind that I have my clothes from yesterday. He knows that I slept over at dads and mums so I'm praying that he understands my situation.
Slipping into my flat shoes I run down the stairs and out of the house before grabbing hold of my car keys. I cannot be late, I cannot be late!
(20 minutes later)
Yes I've made it on time. Carrying my paper work in my hand I look down at the ground and walk when I'm suddenly pushed over to the side onto the floor. Thankfully I held onto the papers properly.
"Miss are you ok?" The man asks with a concerned face.
I just bumped into the laptop trolley, I'm so blind. I start to get up when I hear Mr Peace. Looking ahead I see he has a furious look on his face as he stops in front of the man.
"Are you blind, can't you see where you are going?!" He barks in his face.
Getting up on my feet I watch as the man looks down embarrassed.
"I-I'm sorry sir" He says softly.
"Get the hell out of my face" The man quickly takes his trolley and takes his cue to leave. "Same goes for you" He says looking at me. He turns around and starts to make his way back to his office with me behind him. At least I never got a full lecture from him. He stops at his door as I walk past him to get to my own office. "You're on time" He speaks making me stop in my tracks.
"I'm committed" I say looking him in the eyes.
I expect him to roll his eyes but he simply just continues to look.
"We both know you're not"
