Chapter 22: Unwanted visitors

Chapter 22

Katniss P.O.V.

The day after I was in a good mood even though I've woken up by my nightmares. Annie and Madge laid down in my bed with me to reassure me that I'm safe. We all woke up in a messy dough, laughing as we realized and trying to get out of it.

I know I've always got my girls. When we've gotten ourselves up out of bed, Annie and Madge asked me how things went with Peeta. That's when my mood went up to level one hundred.

Thinking about last night makes me feel so damn happy. Even with my past I can call myself one of the happiest girls in the world. I have amazing guy friends, funny and silly, I have my girls who I trust with my life and I have the best boyfriend a girl could ask for. I never thought I would get this. I really didn't.

When I lived in my home town I really thought my life was over, but I was wrong, my life wasn't over, it had just begun, and I had it rough but I got out of it. I didn't think I would, but truth to be told, everyone who's going through something hard can get through it, if they have people supporting and helping them.

Something I haven't told my girls or boys or Peeta, is that starting this college was my last try, if I would've failed or if something's gone wrong I would've given up on my life completely. But I don't think it's necessary to bring that up because I don't feel that way anymore. It would just be stupid to bring it up now.

"You look so smug", Annie says as we walk towards the café.

"I do not", I say.

"Yes you do", Madge says. "It's not hard to tell that you had sex and is in love".

"I don't try to look smug", I say.

"But you still do", Annie insists.

I sigh but I can't hold back the laughter that comes out.

Madge and Annie laughs with me and I hold up the café door to let them through. I stop laughing when I see that the boys beat us here. They're already standing by the counter, ordering.

Peeta turns around and I smile happily at him. He smiles at me to and I run up to him. He wraps his arms around me in a tight and loving hug.

"I missed you", I mumble.

"And I missed you", Peeta says. "Last night was wonderful".

"It was, wasn't it?" I giggle, burning my face into his chest.

"It totally was", Peeta says. "And unexpected".

"That's why you two dragged us to a night of terror?" Gale whines.

I look up. He looks really tired. Annie and Madge came back to our dorm pretty late but not all too late. About an hour after Peeta left the dorm.

"So these two could hook up?" Finnick asks but a smug grin spreads across his face.

"Finnick I swear to god if you make a remark or comment or anything, you'll deeply wish hadn't", I threaten him, narrowing my eyes.

Peeta chuckles and I lean my head against his chest.

Turns out the boys already bought us girls our coffee, so when we all get them we turn our heels to walk out in the sunlight.

I said goodbye to Prim a while ago, they had to leave pretty early. I'm still going to pay Prim back all her money she spent coming here to see me. I can't stand the thought of her using up all her savings on me. She's saved since she was like five.

But as soon as we come out in the sun and the hot air, everything becomes dark and cold. It feels like I'm going to choke on the thick air and I feel dizzy.
