"Why are you here?" You snap. How was she so oblivious? Why the hell did she think you'd be interested in hearing about how great her life was.

The aggression in your voice was clear as day which worried Yaoyorozu, she couldn't think of anything that would have upset you. "Oh sorry did I say something wrong?"

You stare at her for a moment analysing her face to see if she's actually that clueless. How could she not see it? While you were being dragged through the mud the Yaoyorozu's were made to answer for nothing. So why on earth would you want to hear about her fancy dinner?

"Has it not occurred to you that your fun little outing with your parents is the last thing I want to hear about right now? You are aware that once again your family has to face zero fucking accountability?"

"I'm sorry L/N, but it's not like I have any control over that. I barely have control over my own life you've seen what my parents are like." She says furrowing her brows at you, getting frustrated by your stubbornness. You had seen first hand how controlling her parents were, did you seriously think she had any say in the matter? "Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to make our own choices."

That set something off inside of you.

Outraged, you shoot up from your chair which falls to the ground with a clatter, "You think I get to make my own choices? You think I chose to be a vigilante? That I dropped out of school to work because I wanted to?!" With each sentence you take a step closer, your voice getting louder until she's backed into the wall of the study room.

"Wait I didn't mean it like that!" Yaoyorozu says trying to clear up the confusion. "I was just trying to say that unlike you I-"

"Unlike me? What do you know about me? About people like me? Because one things for certain, people like me can't rely on daddy's money to buy them a spot at their dream school!" You angrily sneer, your larger frame making her feel trapped.

"My parents didn't buy me anything! I worked hard to earn my place at U.A. just like you!" She yells back at you, tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. 'I will not cry, not in front of him' she told herself.

"Oh right because you've been so working hard haven't ya? That's why all Tokoyami had to do was give you a few light shoves to eliminate you at the Sports Festival right?"

That was like a dagger into Yaoyorozu's heart, shattering what was left of her self confidence and any sense that she truly belonged at U.A.

The power and status Yaoyorozu's parents had was never lost on her. Because of that there was little she couldn't have. When it came to her education any prestigious school would've accepted her even without her high grades and perfect attendance record. Sure it sounded good on paper but Yaoyorozu hated how everyone treated her because of her status. It made it hard to have real connections with other teenagers her age when most of the time they just wanted to be "friends" with her to benefit themselves.

But U.A. was different.

You couldn't fake being a hero. You couldn't buy or obtain a hero license from any other means besides earning one through a hero program. U.A. gave her a chance to show people she was more than just a name. It gave her a chance to show her parents that she was her own person.

But so far her hopes hadn't come to fruition. In no way did she doubt her intellect or academic abilities but her practical abilities left much to be desired. At the U.S.J attack she hadn't done all she could have to defend herself and her classmates. Then there was her defeat at the sports fest. She lost so quickly and so easily she hadn't even realised it, making her feel like a literal pushover. Her friends told her it was an unfair matchup which yes maybe it was but even Uraraka managed to hold out against Bakugo, one of the strongest students in class for over five minutes.

After such a humiliating loss the seed of doubt had blossomed into full blown imposter syndrome, affirming in her mind that she really was only as good as her last name, which was reinforced by your piercing words.

Her form shrinks and as much as she tried to stop it tears begin flowing from her eyes, streaking down her cheeks, sniffling quietly, "I... he was... I couldn't..." She tries to string together a coherent sentence but keeps choking on her words.

"Nothing but excuses, pathetic. But what else would I expect from a Yaoyorozu?"

And with that you left.

Leaving Yaoyorozu alone in that room to face her worst fears.

That she wasn't good enough.
