"L/N! We are lining up by seat numbers, please make your way to the back of the line!" Iida orders, blowing his whistle in your face.
"Can it trust fund! I'll sit where I want cause I'm damn well not sitting next to her!" You bark, pointing at Yaoyorozu who scowls at you in return.
"I agree, I refuse to sit next to that dolt." Yaoyorozu retorts, turning away and crossing her arms.
Iida goes to say something but freezes instead returning to his spot in line without even attempting to argue with you. It's strange and not like the Iida you know even if that is very little. It kinda made you feel bad, snapping at him like that but when Aizawa told the class that today's hero training would be a rescue class instead of something easy like a theory based class your temper had started to get the better of you.
It turned out the lineup was useless anyway with the layout of the bus being different to what Iida imagined. Not that it mattered to you. You had refused to sit next to anyone but Todoroki.
Unfortunately, your sleep schedule hadn't been getting any better, in fact it had gotten worse, with you only being able to get decent rest on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, leaving you heavily sleep deprived most days. And so the only person you could actually stand to be around was Todoroki, the two of you ate lunch together in the stairwell basically everyday away from the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria, trading few words, and you usually ending up falling asleep on his shoulder.
This bus ride was no different, you tried leaning against the window fearing that Todoroki might get sick of you sleeping on him all the time but the constant vibrations made that near impossible. As if sensing your hesitation and discomfort, Todoroki gently guides your head to rest on his shoulder. Worded thanks isn't required, simply assumed.
"L/N's quirk isn't quite as flashy as Bakugo or Todoroki's but with crazy speed like that I bet he'll be popular." Kirishima says, you had been tuning out their conversation till now but open one eye just a peak, getting somewhat curious as to why they'd name drop you.
"As long as he doesn't fall asleep on the job." Yaoyorozu teases, Kirishima and some of the others begin laughing at the comment but are quick to stop, noticing the deadly look you're giving them.
You and Yaoyorozu were considered to be rivals by pretty much all of your classmates, two evenly matched rivals mind you. During each lesson the two of you competed, hoping to outshine the other by getting the most questions right. Recently however, Yaoyorozu had gotten ahead of you, with you being slower than her or answering incorrectly thanks to your sleep deprivation.
But no matter how tired you are, you will always defend your dignity from people like her. "Tch, I'm a better hero than you even in my sleep." You retort, lifting your head from Todoroki's shoulder to face Yaoyorozu.
Yaoyorozu's eyes flicker over your face for a moment, observing the large bags under your eyes, a smirk appears across her face. "Sure, in your dreams maybe, which you do a lot of I imagine." She snickers softly.
"I- uh... shit." You stammer, clearly off your game. You give up trying to think of a comeback and sink down into your seat, crossing your arms as you attempt to hide your anger and humiliation behind Todoroki, who pats your head a few times trying to comfort you... it does not.
You spend the rest of the ride sulking in silence, impatiently tapping your foot till at last the bus halts to a stop at alarge dome shaped building. Aizawa orders everyone off the bus where you are all greeted by Thirteen, a hero you've never heard of, but her presence excites both Midoriya and Uraraka.
