051: I'm in the Trees, I'm in the Breeze

Start from the beginning

The door was glass - the shards rather clean, compared to everything around them. Tyreese knocked on the blue wall, and waited. there was no response, so he made his way inside.

The hall was short, and opened into a living room. Instantly, upon the floor, the body of a woman lay there. Decayed or a walker, Danny couldn't tell, but a large chunk of her head was missing from a bullet.

Noah crouched beside it, and placed a blanket over the body, before he cried.

"I tried to come back sooner. I'm sorry. I tried."

Danny turned away, feeling he was intruding. There was a hallway to his left, and he pulled out hsi knife, making his way down teh dark hallways.

Most of the doors were closed, but the closed door at the end of the hallway had a line of light shining beneath it, and he could see the shadow of something on the other side. The soft, almost weak growling told him it was a child walker.

The room on his right was open, and making his way inside, he was another child - but this one was laying on his bed, eyes open, stomach gone.

He remembered Noah mentioning having twin younger brothers.

He heard footsteps behind him, and looked to see Tyreese, walking into the room, a pained look on his face.

"You shouldn't look at him."

Danny shook his head, looking back at the boy's body. "It's important. To remember."

He nodded. "My father used to always leave the news on. He always told Sasha and me that we needed to know what happened, and what's going on. that it's important."

He felt sick. All this loss . . . the fact that this was just more dead bodies to him, and the entire world to Noah.

"I never thought this would be here, you know." He heard himself saying. "Whole time, I felt we were driving towards nothing."

Tyreese nodded slowly. "That's okay. But you gotta remember it'll get better. You've got a lotta good life ahead of you."

"I don't think so."

A loud growl filled the room, and a scream.

Danny turned, seeing a tiny walker beside Tyreese, teeth clamped upon his forearm.

Danny pulled out his knife, stabbing the walker in the head, it falling to the floor as Tyreese did the same. Noah ran into the room, and Danny turned, seeing the blood splattered all over the wall, spewing from his arm.

He froze.

Tyreese was bleeding.

Tyreese was bitten.

Tyreese was bitten.

"Go get the others!" Noah yelled. "Go, run!"

Danny shook his head out of it's daze, and nodded. "I-I'll go get the others."

He wasn't conscious until he was on the street, and still he was in a daze. Tyreese needed help. Tyreese - oh, lord.

"Rick!" Danny yelled, hoping he was somewhere nearby. "Rick!"

There was no answer, but a thump inside a house. The door was wide open, but inside Danny only found walkers, and quickly locked them inside.

Rick must've been somewhere on the far side of the gated area, as Danny didn't find him until he reached that end, yelling, and Rick ran towards him, Michonne and Glenn with him.

"Hey, where's Tyreese?" Rick questioned, looking at how panicked Danny was. "Hey- hey. Where is he?"

"He's- he's at Noah's house." Danny panted, as Rick held his shoulder. "He's been . . . Rick, he's been-"
