051: I'm in the Trees, I'm in the Breeze

He climbed over the last bit only a few seconds after Tyreese, trying to push the nausa down as Rick put a steadying hand on his shoulder.

"You good?"

Danny nodded, and began walking again, Rick with him. "Just the fainting. It's getting better, just things like that."

"You're doing good. Only been gone a week or so."

Finally, they came upon the road, stopping by the tree line.

"They got spotters?" Rick asked Noah. "Snipers?"

"We built a perch on a truck. Sometimes it's out front."

Glenn looked up at the road. "Not today."

Up on the road, a few items were scattered about- an old grandfather clock, a dead animal. The actual settlement itself was behind a reinforced fence, making it impossible to see through. Noah yanked on the gate, which must have been chain locked from the inside, as Danny could hear the horrific sound of the metal chain on the other side. But no one answered. The place seemed deserted.

Danny pulled out is gun. He hated using it, but a knife against humans would be useless.

"I can lift Dan up there." Glenn glanced at a part of the fence that was high up upon a wall. "Might be a bit of a drop on the other side, but-"

"He can't pull himself up." Michonne said. "Lift one of us."

Danny shook his head. "I have to learn to climb at some point. I just won't be fast."

"And don't try to be." Rick said, as Danny made his way over to Glenn. "There could be people inside, keep your head low just in case."

Danny nodded, and Glenn got him to climb onto his shoulder, turning himself so that Danny's working arm was on the side of the fence. He wrapped his hand against one of the fence posts, the wood on the other side not too close so he could fit his fingers in, and carefully pulled himself up onto the lip of the wall, using Glenn's shoulders as foot holds.

He got up, his feet firmly on the wall, but stayed crouched, his right arm beginning to hurt for holding his weight, but it was a normal pain, for once. Then, he lifted his head over the wall.

There was no settlement left. What used to be a gated community was now burnt out homes and blood stained streets. The wall had blocked it, but Danny could smell it on the air, now - the sickly sweet smell of burning bodies. Though, it was faint, and the ash upon the houses looked old enough. Whoever did this had a fun time and took off. Or, there weren't that many of them. But this happened at least a day or two ago.

He glanced down, seeing the others all watching him, and met Noah's eyes.

He was scrambling up the wall a second later.

The others followed, and Danny carefully climbed over himself, using his feet and stomach much more than he used to. But then he fell off the other side, landing hard on his tailbone. He got himself to his feet before the others spotted, too focused on Noah, who was running down the street.

Michonne glance at Danny, who was dusting grass off his jeans. "Stick close, Dan. We don't know what we're gonna find."

Danny looked at Noah, who the others were around, at the end of the street, were it spilt off in four directions. He'd collapsed, crying on the ground. "Yeah."

They made their way over to the others, seeing the entire area looked just like the first street - ransacked, furniture and items all over the road, walkers dead and stumbling around.

"It's alright," Tyreese tried to comfort Noah. "it's alright."

Danny glanced at a retaining wall in a garden, seeing spraypainted words upon it. 'WOLVES NOT FAR'
