Chapter 2 ~ The Roses

Start from the beginning

"Okay, not Mori..." Suoh started, "What about the boy-Lolita type?"

"The what?"

Just then the short boy jumped forward, with a rose in one hand and a stuffed rabbit in the other. He informally introduced himself as Honey, his high pitched voice making me cringe a little bit.

"Why does your face look like that?" He asked, innocently, commenting on how my expression had now turned to horror.

I turned to Suoh, stepping back so that he was no longer touching me, "There is no way you are exploiting a child as part of your perverted club!" I shouted, "This boy should be at home with his family! Or doing homework! Or literally anywhere else! What is he doing in a host club?!"

I started walking to Honey with the intention of guiding him away from this depraved situation, but my anger turned to confusion when everyone simply started laughed at me, including Honey himself. Had they seriously brain washed this child into believing this situation was okay? And how could they all be so twisted to believe people would want to date a child?

"Y/N, I hate to embarrass you, but that is third year Mitsukuni Haninozuka," Kyoya stepped forward, "He is seventeen, and he is a part of the club on his own accord," he adjusted his glasses and smirked, "I promise."

I felt my cheeks starting to burn. How could a 17-year-old look so young? The lighthearted laughter continued from the others.

"Oh... I'm sorry Honey..." I said, awkwardly adjusting the skirt of my dress. Honey simply laughed and offered to treat me to a slice of cake, which I declined. I'm sure it would've been delicious, the opulence of the club room told me the Host Club had quite an extensive budget, but I had no interest in sharing a slice of cake with someone who I'd just accused of being prepubescent.

"Anyway, as interesting and enlightening as this has been, I was looking for the Literature Club. I came to the wrong room."

"I see..." Kyoya started, "well, take this rose anyway, consider it an apology. I'm assuming it was Renge who misdirected you?"

I nodded and politely took Kyoya's rose, carefully avoiding any thorns. It seemed as if Kyoya was the only one in the room who had his head screwed on properly- and the only one who wanted to respect my wishes of leaving. Just then, Suoh spoke,

"Hold on... you two know each other?" his voice sounded alarmed, as if the idea of Kyoya having any prior knowledge of my existence intimidated him.

"We met briefly earlier," Kyoya said, before introducing me to the group.

Of course, he once again had to mention the fact that I was, in his words, a commoner, along with informing everyone that I was a first year in Class 1-A. Suoh simply nodded. I couldn't tell if it was a nod of solemn defeat, admitting that he was discouraged by my previous encounter with Kyoya, or if he was unsurprised that Kyoya already knew so much about me. He did seem like the type to research any newcomer at the academy.

The twins were next to speak, starting their back and forth ruse once again.

"Hey! That's our class! How did we not notice her?"

"I mean she is the daughter of a maid, how could we notice her?"

"The daughter of a maid at Ouran is quite notable,"

"Yet she still manages to be so boring! She would rather be at the Literature Club!"

"I don't see why you'd rather be reading old books with those girls, Y/N"

"Why not stay here with us?"

"Unwind a little bit..." they said in unison.

I started backing away. Their synchronicity genuinely scared me a little bit. It was as if they could read each other's minds. The back and forth of their dialogue made it seem like they always knew what the other would say before he even said it. Suddenly, they managed to read my mind too.
