Chapter 16

A sigh from the seat in front of you catches your attention who looks disappointed with the amount of offers she received. She got a couple hundred what was so bad about that? "You're amazing Todoroki." She's turning to him with a strangely forced smile. She was definitely acting a little different.

"It's probably because of my father." He replies bitterly. Two weeks ago you would've just passed that off as his usual disinterested attitude but given what you now knew about his dad you understood there was much more to that.

"Don't be too concerned with these results as regardless of whether you got an offer or not all of you will be interning with a pro next week." He says turning off the display. "Which ties into our second order of business... code names. You'll have to come up with hero names for your internships."

"FINALLY SOMETHING EXCITING!" The majority of the class chants.

Aizawa quickly shuts them down with his signature glare before continuing, "Now be wary, they may only be temporary but some of your names may stick so take this seriously or-"

"You'll have hell to pay!" Ms Midnight exclaims as she struts into the room. "These names should represent you and your ideals. You wouldn't want to be known by some ridiculous joke name would you?" Sometimes it was hard to look past her provocative nature but that didn't mean she didn't have the qualities of a teacher. Not that a lot of the other students see that.

"I'm not good at this whole naming thing so Midnight will be taking over for this lesson." He's not even halfway through his sentence as he wraps himself up in the yellow cocoon he called a sleeping bag, handing the reigns over to Midnight entirely as he falls asleep.

Lucky.

Everyone is handed a whiteboard and a marker to write down their potential hero names. Oddly enough you had never brainstormed any hero aliases even though you had been accepted into a hero school. Of course you had never really aspired to become a hero so the more brand related aspects of heroism such as names never crossed your mind.

After just a few minutes Midnight asks if anyone wants to present their names. Aoyama is the first one to go up and presents his name 'I cannot stop twinkling' which is exactly what you'd expect from him. Instead of shutting him down completely Midnight suggests changing it to 'Cant stop twinkling', not that it's much better but still an improvement.

Mina is next to present, dubbing herself 'Alien Queen,' you didn't think it was that bad but Midnight points out that given her quirk people might think she's a xenomorph or something.

After sufficiently lowing the bar Tsu comes up with the first good name, 'Froppy' and from there more students present acceptable names like Red Riot, Creati or Sugarman.

But for now you had to focus on your own name. Your quirk gave you a lot to work with given it was a speed quirk but that also came with some challenges. You had ruled out anything with 'flash' in it but you still had plenty of good options but were now struggling to pick one.

Dash? Too plain, sounded like a regular name.

Blur? Doesn't roll off the tongue that well.

Blink? That's pretty good actually.

Blink-182? Well now that's just stupid.

How about-

"We're just waiting on L/N, Midoriya and Ida to present their names." Midnight calls from the front of the classroom. Her eyes quickly scan the room before locking onto you, "L/N, do you mind going next?" She asks, beckoning you forward with her hand.

With the spotlight on you the atmosphere becomes a little tense but such is unavoidable. It would be best to just get it over with now so you can flee back to your seat once more. You power walk to the front of the classroom, whiteboard in tow and show them the name you landed on...

"The speed hero: Phase."

Short, sweet but not boring and it accurately described your quirk thus differing you from other speed users like Ida. Unfortunately due to the circumstances your fellow students don't really give you any feedback, instead staring back at you with indifferent stares.

"Phase... I like it. It's got some real oomph to it." She says in a semi-sultry tone while licking her lips. The tips of your ears heat up as you're reminded just why you're still not comfortable around her. 

You weren't even halfway through first period yet it felt like this day had gone on too long.
