"Everyday."
He's quick to redo the buttons on your shirt and adjust your tie, you kinda feel like a kid almost... well a much younger kid who still can't get dressed without their parents that is. Sometimes you forget that you're still barely a teenager.
Tsukauchi's face is almost glowing with pride as he looks at you in your uniform, "You know I wanted to tell you this sooner but... I'm really proud of you L/N, you've come a long way from the rambunctious troublemaker i met you as." He beams ruffling your hair again. Even though he's actively messing up your hair you decide against ruining this moment with some snarky comment, not that you have the energy to do so.
"Thanks."
It's painfully obvious to Tsukauchi how all morning you've been giving quick, curt responses to anything he says and it doesn't take a world class detective such as himself to figure out why. "I know you're worried about what everyone's going to think of you, but you'll be alright L/N... you always are." He speaks softly, patting your shoulder in an effort to comfort you.
Given his line of work he's no stranger to the public lens. Sometimes when a case isn't going well the pressure and scrutiny can be too much for him so he knows how you're feeling. But not only are you still so young you're also under a much bigger spotlight than he's ever been. Currently millions upon millions of people are all looking at you like you're devil spawn.
"Thanks."
You didn't want to go to school.
You didn't want to go out in public.
You wanted to stay home and hide in your crappy apartment and eat instant noodles.
You thought you would be ready for when this happened but it was all so much more overwhelming and infuriating than you could have imagined. Guess you underestimated what it would be like to have so many people hate you.
Although he manages to hide it, it pains Tsukauchi greatly to see you without your signature spark, even if it was only last night that he was cursing that playful spark out. Tsukauchi exhales briefly, "C'mon I'll drive you to school, it's raining pretty badly." He wants to say more to you, he wants to do more for you but the reality is that for now this is all he can offer.
You get in the passenger seat of his black sedan and spend the ride to U.A. silently staring out the window as the rain pours down, the pit of dread and resentment in your stomach deepening with every second that passes. As the car comes to a halt in front of U.A. you hesitantly place your hand on the door handle but cant quite muster up the courage to leave just yet.
The entrance looks even more intimidating than the day of the entrance exams, the gloomy grey skies didn't help. You had arrived a little later than usual but that wasn't such a bad thing as most of the students would already be in there classrooms waiting for first period to begin which meant you could avoid some trouble.
"Do you need an umbrella?" Tsukauchi asks, he only had one in the car but he didn't mind letting you borrow it for the day.
"No it's fine I have my ways." You say forcing out a smile. "Thanks again for letting me stay the night Tsukauchi." In one swift motion you open the car door and faze to the main building in an instant, leaving the detective bewildered. You had spent years hiding your quirk from him and never used it in front of him so this was his first time seeing it in person.
