(A/n: just here to translate that form/tutor is basically like homeroom in the USA, and for everyone else it's like 20 minutes at the start of school normally, where teachers update you about school stuff, and if you have problems, you'd usually go to the teacher that runs tutor/form)
"What the hell was that?" I ask my brother to shove him in front of me as we walk down the pavement towards our bus stop.
"What was what?" He asks innocently with a smile, catching himself as he nearly trips.
"Don't play dumb with me, Hayden Richard Fontes-Cartie, you know exactly what you were putting out with stalker allegations, you know those aren't true," I scold.
"Oh yeah? Well, I've seen the way you write about him, you're in loveeeeeee with him," he teases, poking my cheek with his index finger as we walk.
I push his finger out of my face. "How's Maria?" I ask with a knowing smirk. He turns bright red and starts stuttering gibberish. We continue walking while I tease him for getting flustered.
"Do you wanna go shops before school?" He asks quietly, obviously trying to change the subject.
I decided to let him off the hook and agreed to stop by the corner shop opposite the bus stop. We walk into the corner shop, hearing the bell ding notifying the shop owner, Dennis, of our arrival.
"Yoo bossman Dennis," Aiden greets, leaning over the sweet table and pay counter to dap the owner up.
"Yoo, one of my favourite customers' little thief's little sibling," he teases, looking over at me, giving me a nod as our greeting.
He calls me Little Thief after he caught me and my friends attempting to steal some monsters and Mike n' Ikes from him when we were 13, which, looking back now, is an embarrassing thing to get caught stealing.
"Hey Dennis," I greet, walking over to him and giving the middle-aged short man a fist bump. It sounds bad that my mates and I tried to steal from him, but I ended up feeling bad and paying for everything we stole myself after they'd run away. He would've only lost about 5 quid, but it wasn't about the money
It was about the principle
I'm no longer friends with those people anymore, and now Dennis and I are good. Sometimes he even gives me free stuff because I've been coming to him for years. Between me, my mates, Aiden and his mates, we practically keep him in business.
Aiden and I walk over to the drinks fridge and scan over our options. Naturally, Aiden, being every 14-year-old boy in the UK, he wanted a PRIME, specifically the limited edition flavour. He's taking advantage to get one now because Dennis won't ID him, unlike most chain retail stores in the area. I playfully roll my eyes, remembering being his age, where all I wanted was a monster, specifically the white flavour, and I would come here to get it. As Aiden leaves the drinks aisle, I opt for that specific monster before quickly changing my mind and picking up a pink Red Bull. After staying up late studying, I need the caffeine to get through this Chemistry exam I have, as well as all the other work I have ahead of me the rest of the day. As I stare at the drink in my hand, I list everything I have to do today, which includes
Chemistry mock, finishing my English presentation for this Thursday (it's currently Tuesday), Maths revision for tomorrow in class, Learn vocabulary for French practice speaking test this afternoon, Check-up meeting with the guidance counsellor, I have a meeting for Drama club which goes towards my final grade and History revision which will be done in Geography because I know what I am doing there.
And that's just at school today.
I let out a silent cry to myself as I pick up another Red Bull of the same flavour, which I plan to drink when I inevitably pull my 3rd all-nighter in the past week. I then turn around to be surprised by someone in a suit not that far away from me, observing the fizzy drinks. I'm taken aback by the sudden presence as I try to figure out where I know him from. The details of his face were obstructed because he faced away. His suit was unlike anything I've seen before, it was too expensive for him to be a local in this area.
