Life is unpredictable. One moment, you're unsure of your future-with no plans for love, let alone marriage-and the next, you're preparing for an engagement... with the very person you once dreamed about. Just a week ago, Ruhi would have never believed she'd be going on a date. Yes, you heard it right. I was going on my very first date. Yesterday, after an emotional conversation between our families, Shravan asked me out. And of course, I said yes.
Now, here I was getting ready with Divya doing my makeup. I wore a long, pastel pink one-piece dress with full sleeves. Divya tried convincing me to go sleeveless, but I wasn't comfortable showing my thick arms. Lately though, I've started to love my body. I've started to heal. It's just the beginning -I won't claim to be halfway through but I'm trying to be happy. Being with the right person... it heals more than words ever could.
I didn't know where we were going for our date.Shravan had kept it a surprise. He just said, "You're going to love it." Soon, I got a call from him-he was waiting outside my hostel. I took a deep breath and headed out.
There he was-leaning casually against the bonnet of his car. As soon as he saw me, his smile deepened and his dimples flashed. God, I love his dimples.
He walked to the backseat, took something out, and quickly hid it behind him. Coming closer, he brought it forward and handed it to me.
"Sunflowers for my sunshine," he said.
"Oh my God! How do you know sunflowers are my favourite?" I asked, eyes wide with excitement, taking them from his hands.
"This is just the beginning, darling. Today is all about your favourites," he winked.
"I'm so excited! Thank you so much for the flowers," I said.
"My pleasure," he replied with a small bow.
He opened the car door for me like a true gentleman. I settled in as he walked around and got into the driver's seat.
"Do you want to buckle the seatbelt yourself, or should I do it-like last time?" he teased.
Oh! How do I keep forgetting about that?
"I'll do it," I said, giving him a playful side-eye.
He chuckled softly. "Any music preferences, or shall I play my playlist?" he asked.
"Play whatever you like," I said, still a little nervous.
He connected to Bluetooth. His playlist was full of retro songs.
"Aapko bhi purane gaane pasand hain?" I asked, surprised.
He nodded.
"Mujhe bhi. I'm glad our music tastes match," I said with a soft smile.
