"We'll take the lot," Harry responded. He pulled out what looked like a handful of gold Galleons. Ron's eyes went wide as he stared in disbelief.

"Whoa!"

We sifted through the candy. I immediately dove for my favorite — Cauldron Cakes. I inhaled the delicious chocolate fragrance before sinking my teeth into the soft sponge. Ron guided Harry through the flavors of Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans.

They were never m favorite. After getting a vomit-flavored one, given to her by Fred (who convinced me that it was butterscotch), I'd never looked at that popular candy again. Ron had told Harry the story, which my own brother found amusing.

Ron had pulled out his pet rat, Scabbers, at some point. I immediately scooted as far away from it as possible, a scowl on her face. I eyed the rat dubiously with a frown on my face.

"Honestly, I'm surprised that thing is still alive by now," I commented with disgust in my voice.

Ron gave me an offended look. I couldn't believe that Ron was defending a rat. It made me sick.

"There's nothing wrong with Scabbers, Annie."

"What about Scabbers?" Harry asked, his tone filled with curiosity. The rat was chowing through a pack of gummy wands.

"Well, Scabbers has always been iffy towards Annie," Ron explained as he gave me a sideways glare. "But he doesn't have a problem with the rest of us Weasleys. Fred gave me a spell to turn him yellow. Would you like to see?"

Harry's eyes lit up with excitement. He leaned forward eagerly.

"Yeah."

"Ron, maybe you shouldn't —" I began cautiously, but Ron cut me off. He rolled his eyes as he got his wand out.

"Why do you have to spoil everything, Annie?"

I began to open my mouth again, but I quickly snapped it shut. A mischievous look came to my dark eyes and I casually settled herself back in my seat. I put her hands behind my back, watching idly. An easy grin was on my lips.

"Oh, alright," I answered, her tone casual. "But don't let me tell you 'I told you so'."

Ron rolled his eyes. He cleared his throat dramatically. He raised his wand and began to chant the spell Fred had supposedly given him, only to be stopped by a girl who was already dressed in her uniform. She took one look around their compartment before she huffed in annoyance.

"Has any of you seen a toad? A boy named Neville has lost one."

Ron wrinkled his nose in disgust.

"No."

The girl didn't seem to be paying much attention. She seemed to have her eyes on Ron's wand in hand. She looked vaguely interested. She seemed to challenge him.

"Oh! Are you doing magic? Let's see, then."

Ron looked surprised. Nonetheless, he cleared his throat again before saying the spell that Fred had given him.

"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow . . . . turn this stupid, fat rat yellow!"

Nothing. A crackle from the wand, but nothing.

I snickered. Ron looked annoyed. He looked up at Harry and shrugged, completely ignoring me.

"Are you sure that's a real spell?" The girl asked, her tone indignant and full of disapproval. "Well, it's not very good, is it? Of course, I've tried a few simple spells, myself. But they've all worked for me." She took out her own wand and flounced down across from Harry, seating herself between Annie and Ron. She pointed the wand at Annie's brother. "For example: Occulus Reparo." The glasses her brother wore immediately fixed themselves. Harry took them off to examine them, mouth hung open. He seemed impressed as he put his glasses back on. "That's better, isn't it? Holy cricket! You're Harry Potter! I'm Hermione Granger. And . . . . you are?" She indicated to Ron with a look of disgust on her face.

"I'm Ron Weasley," Ron answered through a mouthful of Cauldron Cakes he'd managed to sneak from me.

"Pleasure," said Hermione, her tone stiff. She turned to me, a nicer tone in her voice and a light smile on her face. "And what's yours?"

"Eleanore. Eleanore Potter. But I prefer Annie. I'm Harry's twin."

Hermione's eyes brightened. "Really? I've read all about the two of you."

"Really?"

I shouldn't be surprised. People knew me from everywhere. I really couldn't catch a break from having time to myself — unless I was in my room.

"Really." She turned to the three of us, offering a smile. "The three of you have got to change into your robes. I suspect that we'll be arriving soon." The train whistled. Hermione leapt to her feet and began to flounce out of the room. She only turned back, a frown on her face, when she seemed to notice something. She turned to Ron, annoyed. "You've got dirt on your nose, by the way. Did you know? Just there."

Ron rubbed furiously at his nose, scowling at Hermione as he did so. Hermione looked satisfied and flounced away.
