She gestured for him to come over, and he obliged, sitting down next to her as she took his cigarette again from his fingers.
"I can give you your own if you really want one, Sera," Theo smirked down at her as she shook her, blowing smoke in the other direction.
"I don't want a whole one, just a bit of yours." She smiled at him, and he just nodded to her.
"What's mine is yours then." He said softly, taking it from her again and taking a drag before handing it back to Seraphina as she did the same.
"How's your hand?" He asked casually, trying not to make a big deal out of it. This was something that he would have only asked her if they were by themselves, like they were now.
Seraphina shrugged, showing her the bright red scar on the back of her hand. It didn't hurt as bad as it did anymore, but the words were still just as visible as they were the day it happened. Theo grabbed her hand gently, running his thumb across the inscription.
"Does it still hurt?" Theo asked, looking back up at her.
Seraphina shrugged a little, tapping the ash from Theo's cigarette. "From time to time. Nothing I can't handle, though." She said with a smile.
"I can't believe she did that to you and Potter," Theo said, slightly exasperatedly.
"She's bloody mental." She said, looking back out at the lake, hoping that Theo would just drop it. Not in the mood to talk about her or the subject any longer. The whole ordeal had been the cause of her nightmares as of late. At least she thought they were nightmares; she couldn't distinguish between that and memories of her father that were happening more frequently than usual.
Theo watched her carefully, but didn't say anything as she went quiet. She clearly didn't want to talk about it, and he knew better than to pressure her into it. He finished his cigarette as they sat in silence and then cleared his throat.
"Thanks for talking. I'm glad we were able to clear things up," he said, nudging her a little.
Seraphina snapped out of her own train of thought and smiled, giving him a small smile, "Me too." She said as Theo stood up, holding out his hands to pull her up.
Seraphina helped him lift her to her feet before they went to grab their things and head back up to the castle.
"I'm sorry I've been avoiding you all," Seraphina said as they walked.
Theo looked over at her and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. I would have too if I were you." He said to her softly.
She nodded a little before looking towards the castle. "What time is it?" She asked him.
"Quarter past ten." He glanced at his watch and over at her as the panic rushed to her face.
"Fuck, I'm going to be late." She said, picking up her pace toward the castle.
"What for?" Theo said, matching her pace with ease.
"Arithmancy." She said it should have been obvious to him.
"Oh, right, you took that instead of a free period like the rest of us." He said with a slight teasing tone as they reached the castle.
"I prefer filling my time with it than sitting around listening to you drone on about how much you hate your homework." She said playfully as they walked into the castle.
"I'm not that bad." He corrected, and Seraphina shook her head, rolling her eyes a little.
"You totally are." She laughed, looking over at Theo as their friends approached them.
