Theo didn't say anything for a moment. He didn't know how to explain to her that Mattheo didn't mean to hurt her. Scare her, maybe, but he'd never intentionally hurt her. The issue was that he didn't think that even Mattheo would disagree with her on that.

"I'm not going to make excuses for that. He can apologize for that himself, but I don't think he would hurt you the same way he would hurt Rosier if he hurt you." Theo said, practically stumbling over his own words, trying to make sure he could get that across to her.

"He's just waiting for Evan to break my heart so he can make fun of me for it." Seraphina sighed, looking back at Theo.

"He doesn't mean it. He was just upset." Theo told her gently.

"He's always upset." She added, shoving her hands into her pockets, giving up on skipping stones.

"That part's true," he said with a smirk, walking towards her.

"You're not done, Nott. Then what happened?" Sera said with a smile as she gave him a playful shove when he was in arm's reach.

Theo smiled, shaking his head a little. "Then I stupidly told him, 'You think it's funny? Why don't you let me wipe that smirk off your face' before trying to hit him, but that's when Enzo stepped in and put an end to the whole thing." He explained as Seraphina threw her head back and laughed.

"Theo, you can't just hit boys because they like me." She said to him as Theo went a deep shade of red.

"Not because they like you, only when they sexualize you," he defended, and Seraphina rolled her eyes.

"Now you've gone mental. You lot don't do that to all the girls in our bloody year." She said, shaking her head a little. She didn't appear to be mad anymore from Theo's point of view, but something about her face didn't look right.

But Sera couldn't conceptualize her own thoughts on the matter. Maybe because she spent all her time with a group of boys who do nothing but sexualize any girl that crosses their path, hearing that Evan Rosier was doing the same thing to her didn't faze her the way she was probably expected to. Evan liked her; he'd made that much clear, and despite what he may think of her physical appearance, he did take an interest in her other attributes.

"Yeah, but it's different with you." Theo defended, and Seraphina just rolled her eyes again.

"No, it's not. You think I haven't heard how Malfoy's been talking about me since the start of term. I own a mirror, I know what I look like these days." Seraphina added with a shrug.

"You're so much more than that, and Malfoy's a bloke." He argued, and Seraphina looked back up at him.

"I know, I'm not mad about it." She told him sincerely, and Theo stopped just staring at her for a long moment.

"Fine, just don't ignore me like that ever again." He said, pulling a cigarette out of his pocket and putting it in his mouth as he grabbed his lighter.

"Fine, just don't threaten my boyfriend like that again." She said as he lit his cigarette and took a drag, she waited for him to be done and plucked it out of his hand as he blew smoke away from them, and she took a long drag from his cigarette.

Theo just stared at her with a lazy smirk on his face. If anyone else had done it, he would have surely pushed them onto the ground, but he didn't mind when Seraphina did it. She handed it back to him after she had finished, blowing the smoke away from them.

"Deal, fiore mio," he told her gently, and Seraphina nodded and smiled up at him before walking back over where they had ditched their bags in cloaks and sat down with her back against the tree.
