"She's not with him in class, just fucking talk to her then," Mattheo said matter-of-factly, unsure of why it wasn't obvious to Theo.
"Look at you, helping. I thought you liked her not sitting here." Pansy said with a smirk, and Mattheo rolled his eyes.
"I do. It means I don't have to waste my time arguing with her." He muttered as he went back to his food. Not wanting to admit or give the implication that there was an emptiness without her there with them. It didn't feel the same not having her pushing every single one of his buttons like it was a fun game to her. Maybe it was for both of them, but Mattheo would never admit it.
"But her being back over here, annoying me, means less of Theo annoying me by drowning on like a broken record." He added with a shrug, looking back down at his plate for a moment before briefly looking over at Seraphina, who was chatting with Evan. She was gazing at him with more admiration than most people saw in their entire lifetime.
"You're a really great mate, you know that, right?" Enzo said mockingly, and Mattheo just shot him a glare.
"So what if I write her a note or something?" Theo said, looking back at their friends.
"Or catch her before or after class," Daphne told him.
"Just say you miss her, she'll come around," Astoria added confidently, but Theo still wasn't sure.
Theo looked down the table at Seraphina, who was now laughing at something Evan said. He kissed her temple, which immediately erupted a swarm of butterflies inside her.
Both Mattheo and Theo were staring at her at this point, unaware of the other, as they were both transfixed by every small detail on her face as she leaned into Evan Rosier. Neither boy was subtle in their stare as their friends just smirked amongst themselves.
Theo walked hesitantly into the charms classroom, his eyes immediately found Seraphina sitting alone at her usual table, reading her charms book. He looked behind him and over at Blaise, Draco, and Enzo, who were urging him to go on. Theo looked back at Seraphina, who was reading her book without a clue. Theo's mouth immediately went dry. He stopped in his tracks, staring at her as she turned a page in her book.
"Go on then," Enzo said, stifling a laugh as he pushed Theo toward her.
Theo stumbled slightly before catching himself. The embarrassment visibly radiated off him as his face twisted up as he looked over his shoulder at his friends, who were trying, very badly, to stifle their laughs at him.
"Be a bloody man already, Nott." Draco snickered, gesturing at Seraphina as Daphne moved around them to take a seat behind Seraphina so she could watch the show.
Theo swallowed hard as he pulled the strap of his bag onto his shoulder and forced himself to take a deep breath. Reminding himself that it was just Seraphina, and she was nothing to be scared of, at least not at the present moment. He anxiously wiped his hand on his robe, disgusted with himself for clamming up at just the sight of her. He knew he just had to do it before class started, and she was whisked away again by Rosier. Theo walked up to her table and sat down beside her before he could chicken out and hide in the back of the room with Lorenzo.
Seraphina looked over at him when he sat down, her expression unreadable as she met his eyes before she looked back at her book as she scooted her chair further away from him. She wasn't surprised by his appearance but was slightly annoyed by it. She had been doing a good job pretending like he didn't exist until this moment. She couldn't ignore him as he sat so close to her.
"Fiore mio, please," Theo said pleadingly, the gentleness in his voice tugging at Seraphina's heartstrings. She kept her eyes on the page in front of her. She knew that if she looked over at him again, then she would melt right into the palm of his hand, and she refused to give him that power over her.
