9: Too good to be true

Dia's POV

One last day for prep. Tomorrow is going to be my test and also his because he entrusted such a big project to me.

Moksh, Bhumi, Akash and I were sitting in the meeting room. All of them were giving me tips for my presentation. I was nervous. The voices and advices were making me more scared. Akash noticed and he gestured Moksh and Bhumi to leave. They wished me luck with their sweetest smile and left. Now, it was only me and him.

"Akash, I am scared."

"Scared of what?"

"I don't know."

"How can you not know? Huh? You have it in you. You have the potential, you are capable, what are you scared of, Dia?" His voice got a bit louder but I could sense concern in his voice. He came closer to me.

"I am scared that maybe I will make a fool out of myself." I blurted out.

"Dia, if you are even scared to try, how will you know if you will succeed or not? If you succeed, it's your sign and if you don't, you at least tried. You will have the answers, but if you don't even try how will you know anything?" He looked straight into my eyes, voicing his concerns about me.

"Why does he care so much about me?" I thought.

"You are right. I should at least try. Only when I try, will I know the true
answer." I nodded.

He gently padded my hand and assured me.

"I can give you one option." He said.

"What?"

"If you feel stuck somewhere, just look at me and pretend that you are
coughing. I will understand and then take over from there."

"Really?"

"But on one condition."

"Of course, what?" I rolled my eyes.

"You need to speak for a minimum of fifteen minutes and then only you can use this way out."

"Deal." I shook his hand.

"Can you also make a deal with me?" I asked.

"What?"

"You need to be present tomorrow. I cant do it without you."

"I promise you, I will be there tomorrow."

"Chalo, lets leave. Its already 6. Go home, have some rest, read a book and then sleep. Don't take stress. Got it?" he patted my head.

"Yes, yes, got it."

The big day was finally here. My alarm went off at 5:30 and I woke up in a haste for I thought I had slept long.
I changed into my sweats and wore my running shoes. I left a little early for my jog today because I had to reach office early.

The sun was rising, spreading it's light over the land and making it look
glorious. Sweat was dripping from my face so I used my cloth to wipe it. After jogging for about 30 minutes, I sat on our swing.

I closed my eyes, tilted my face upwards facing the sky, letting the sun lay its first rays on me. All the anxiousness and worry about today's meeting seemed to disappear in thin air. My mind was cleared for a moment until I was disturbed by a slight touch on my shoulder.

"Why so early today?" he asked.

"Akash... how come?.. How did you know I would be early today?" I was
surprised.
