Scene: Late Night — Arjun's Apartment

The house had finally settled. The hum of the ceiling fan filled the silence. Outside, the city was asleep. Inside, warmth lingered — in conversations that had ended, in glances that hadn’t.

---

Arjun's Room– Arjun & Indu

The lights were dim. Arjun was lying on the bed, still drowsy from the medication. Indu sat beside him, her knees pulled close, watching him — quiet, thoughtful.

She says, “You scared me today.”

He opens one eye slowly, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

He says, “Didn’t mean to. I was just… trying to show up for you.”

She says, “By smashing into a divider?”

He winces playfully. “Okay. Not my best idea.”

She sighs, brushing his hair off his forehead gently.

She says, “Next time, just send flowers.”

He says, “I’ll send myself — wrapped in bubble wrap.”

A small laugh escapes her. She shifts closer, resting her head carefully on his shoulder.

She whispers, “Just… be safe. I can’t handle anything happening to you.”

He turns slightly, kissing the top of her head.

He says, “I’m not going anywhere.”

The room falls silent again — except for the quiet beat of their breathing. And the steady comfort of being near.

---

Guest Bedroom – Anirudh & Chaitra

Chaitra was sitting at the edge of the bed, tying up her hair. Anirudh leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching her with a soft smile.

He says, “You always look prettiest when you’re pretending you’re not tired.”

She glances over her shoulder.

She says, “And you always flirt when you’re trying to avoid brushing your teeth.”

He chuckles, walks over, and sits beside her.

He says, “Guilty.”

She leans into him, head resting on his shoulder.

She says, “Today was intense.”

He wraps an arm around her, pressing a kiss to her temple.

He says, “But ended well.”

She smiles.

She says, “You and Aravind… you looked happy to see each other.”

He says, “It brought back a lot. We used to pull all-nighters studying. Well… I studied. He copied.”

Chaitra laughs softly, curling her fingers into his shirt.

She says, “I’m glad he was there for Arjun.”

He says, “Me too.”

She turns to him, eyes a little more playful now.

She says, “You know what I need after a day like this?”

He raises an eyebrow.

He says, “A long massage? Ice cream? Me singing you to sleep?”

She says, “Pillow talk and cuddles.”

He grins, pulling her gently onto the bed.

He says, “Order received.”

They lay down together, limbs tangled, foreheads touching.

She whispers, “Do you ever think about how far we’ve come?”

He murmurs, “Every day.”

She smiles sleepily.

She says, “Let’s not lose this.”

He kisses her softly.

He says, “Never.”

---

Both rooms quieted into gentle silence — no chaos, no alarms — just love, laughter, and a stillness that felt safe.

The night outside stretched long and quiet. But inside the apartment, hearts were full, and everything — for now — was exactly as it should be.
