"Well you try fighting someone with no sleep for almost two weeks." She remarked, her brows lowering. "See how well that works out for you."
The demon only laughed.
Just laughed. Apparently finding what she said quite hilarious.
Y/N's lips curved down at that.
She wasn't frowning──never. She was merely.. disappointed.
To be seen as weak and fragile is something she had despised since the day her parents died.
She then sighed heavily, the demon only furthering her annoyance.
"All right.." she started as she began to shift, making the demons hand on her jaw tighten. "Get your hands off me, yeah?"
The demons grin widened.
"Make m─"
Shlink!
Before the demon knew it, Y/N had swiftly switched their position.
She, now sat on top of the demon, her blade pressed up against the demons neck with slight pressure. Her thighs were on either side of the demons own and also on half of his torso. She looked down at him, her hair falling over her shoulders and a few strands falling over her face. The demon's eyes had widened at her sudden speed and the switch of position. His lips parted but nothing came out.
Y/N then moved her free hand to the demons left shoulder and pressed down, forcing him to stay down.
Her grip on her blade was tight and she pressed her weapon harder against his neck, making the demon grunt at the pressure. His brows lowered, and his lips curved downwards. He didn't look annoyed, frustrated, of even angry──just interested.
As if wondering what'd she do next.
Y/N, despite her nonchalant expression, inside she felt extremely irritated.
Seriously, what's wrong with this demon?
Nonetheless, she was extremely tired, and just wanted to get this over with.
"Hey.." she called out, making the demon blinked up at her. "Do you always play with your food," Y/N titled her head, her hair shifting with the movement. "or am i just an exception?"
The demon chuckled, surprisingly amused.
"Only the pretty ones." He honestly told her and that made Y/N's nose scrunch up.
Her brows furrowed just the slightest, and her lips curved downwards even more. Her expression was a mix of concern, disbelief, and of course, disgust. She was also quite confused.
"Ew." She dryly said before she swiftly shifted her blade and pressed it harder against his neck, drawing out blood from the slightly invisible cut against his skin.
Her lashes fluttered, her eyes closing once as her head titled down just a few seconds before she opened her eyes, waking up just to repeat the same action.
"Ugh.." she groaned lowly.
She blinked, swallowing as she tried to stay awake. She then added: "I can kill you, you know." She reminded him.
The demon blinked, his brows raising.
"Then why don't you?" He asked her, his tone laced with a mix of confusion but also interest. "Or were you just pla─"
"Okay." She interrupted, her voice monotone.
Y/N removed her hand from his shoulder and grabbed the demon by his hair and lifted his head up, making the demons eyes widened in surprise, obviously not excepting her to actually kill him. She then sliced through the demons neck with ease, ignoring the demons words that he tried to utter out. She then tossed his head aside, continuing to ignore his protests. She slowly got stood up whilst sliding her blade into her scabbard.
She glanced down, watching as the demons body began to slowly turn into dust and dissolve.
After a beat of silence, she looked away before turning around.
She hummed lowly.
I can finally go home.. yay!
She raised both her arms up and above her head, stretching whilst closing her eyes and a yawn escaped her mouth. A few pops! could be heard as she stretched her arms. After a moment, she lowered her arms back down before slowly peeling her eyes open, the room coming into focus after the slight blurriness from the tears that has formed in her eyes for yawning.
And with that,
she began her walk back home.
───
The sun would be rising soon.
It had taken Y/N over about four whole hours just to make it back to her house.
Sure, she had fallen asleep multiple times along the way, but she's okay! She made it back safe and sound──despite running into a bunch of demons along the way.
She huffed, grabbing onto the bark of the tree trunk as she leaned against it. She looked exhausted. And extremely tired.
Her house was just a few feet away, and yet she felt that if she took another step forward she'd pass out. She blinked, her eyes slowly drifting over to where her house was. She was so close, yet so far away it seemed. Sighing, she let go of the bark of the tree trunk and stepped forwards, making her way home. The grass crunched against her feet as she stepped, and the wind blew softly through her hair.
She stepped up the three light brown steps that led up to the flat, semi─long deck that connected to her one story house. The bushes and large oak trees leaves tussled in the wind, a few falling to the ground. She stepped onto the deck, and then walked over towards the sliding doors. She grabbed the handle, slid it open, and walked inside, the fresh air inside calming her down immediately.
Her shoulders relaxed, and her eyes had softened, but were half-lidded.
Taking another step forwards, a quiet gasp left her lips are she suddenly fell forwards, hitting the wooden floorboards with a light thud! Her hair has fell over her shoulders, her legs spread out slightly and her arms by her head almost as if she tried to catch herself but missed.
Silence fell beneath her and she lied on the floor unmoving. The wind blew and whistled in the background, but the night was pretty quiet though.
Hmm.
Seems like she passed out from the lack of sleep had gotten.
It was bound to happen.
Slowly, but surely, the sun had already started to rise over the horizon, basking sunlight through the windows of Y/N's house, casting a shadow over her body.
