The Forest Whispers
Aria stepped out of her dinery, after a whole bunch of trouble for the day, she closed her dinery and was contemplating on taking the short cut to her little cottage her parents died in when she was only 19. Alas she decided to.
The full moon hung low in the midnight sky, casting a silver glow over the ancient trees of Blackmist Forest. The air was heavy with a strange stillness too quiet, too aware. Every leaf seemed to rustle with purpose. Every breeze carried whispers not meant for ordinary ears.
Aria moved quickly through the forest, on her way back to her little cottage, her boots crunching softly against the fallen leaves. The hood of her deep crimson cloak did little to hide her from the magic that watched her every step. She shouldn't have taken the short cut to her house, but why was it taking long to get to her home? She should already be home like the rest of the villagers but for some reason she felt something calling to her tonight.
A heat in her chest.
A voice in her head.
She glanced at both sides of the roads but saw nothing.
A name she had never heard before but somehow knew: Kael.
Since her 21st birthday, the dreams had grown intense dreams of golden eyes, clawed hands, and a deep voice that spoke in growls and promises. She would wake up panting, her body on fire and her sheets tangled between her thighs.
She wasn’t afraid. She was curious. Desperate. Drawn.
A low howl echoed through the trees, long and guttural. Most would run. Aria stopped and closed her eyes.
“Dear God, hope I'm not been watched” she subconsciously whispered into the night.
Moments passed… But nothing, she felt her mind was playing on her.. Then out of nowhere five men appeared. She stepped back ready to run, but before she could she was caught and yanked to the cold bare ground. They immediately tried to tie her up. Her eyes shot up to look at her abductors..
But she saw something else.
Leaning lazily against the thick trunk of an old cedar, half in shadow, half in moonlight he was exactly how she dreamed him. Tall, with broad shoulders and a body that made her heart skip. His hair was black and wild, falling over glowing golden eyes that studied her like prey.
He wore only a pair of low-slung black pants, his chest bare and rippling with raw power. But it wasn’t just his body that made her thighs clench it was the pull. The way his presence wrapped around her like invisible hands.
Those pair of golden eyes stared hardly at the men holding her hostage unknown to them, danger was looming over them.
“You all shouldn’t be here,” he said, voice low, gravelly… laced with a little bit of anger and impatience.
"Who are you?" One of the men asked.
"The man who will send you to death" he replied and before they knew it as fast as lightening the man came down upon them truly like death and in no time cries and yelps was heard and suddenly.. silence struck the forest again.
He tried to look closely at her to know if he scared her by his little blood bath
Her eyes didn’t waver. "Are you.. Kael?" She asked.
A gust of wind swept between them, but neither moved. Her heart beat like a drum, In a flash, he was in front of her. One hand slid around her waist, the other brushed her neck. Electricity sparked at every point their bodies touched. His breath tickled her ear.
Their eyes locked.
Kael’s pupils dilated, his nostrils flaring. “You smell like fate.”
“Then untie me,” she whispered.
His body tensed. "For a moment I forgot to untie you" He said, and with a snap he untied her. A war raged behind his eyes as he stared at her. one part man, one part something wilder. Darker. Hungrier..
“Good,” she said. "Thank you."
“You’re mine now, Aria,” he growled softly..
“please I want to go home” she replied softly.
With a nod, he took her home.
