When the sun goes down.
"How did you turn your heart to stone? I don't want him back, but I can't let go. Hangman, answer me now. You owe me a debt, you stole him from me."

Khristopher took in the environment around him, the waves which had been further back then they'd usually had been, something that he should take heed of but fear never seemed to appear. He wasn't sure if his recklessness was due to the effects of the marijuana he so often smoked or being so emotionally overstimulated that he couldn't feel much anymore. The sky was painted with an array of Gray shades, storms at the precipice of unleashing disaster. It was like his life, Recklessness and danger remained because anything that was beautiful was stripped away.
Over time, he had changed so much. The same boy who helped elders across the street, helped people pack groceries into their vehicles, went to recitals when kids parents couldn't make it, was gone. His sea - green eyes grew cold, he rarely smiled and he barely talked. His mother tried and tried to help him but nothing seemed to work, he was stuck in perpetual pain and he didn't know how to release himself.
Time passed and the effects of the marijuana had been long gone due to the tolerance he built from smoking so long. That was his fix, a temporary high and the hardest lesson learned. It was always a coin flip between absolving him of the pain or amplifying it beyond comprehension. That a midnight session with no good intention, only makes it worse.
The waves pulled further back but Khris didn't seem to notice or care. The Quileute reservation beach had been quieter than usual. By now, the boys had been cliff diving or playing soccer but apparently not on this day. He figured they were on another quest to save Bella, his best friend who had been being hunted by a female vampire because her mate attacked Bella, forcing the Cullens to destroy him. Jacob, his other best friend was also included in this search for the vampire.
The truth was when the Cullens left, the two boys had been there for her through it all and eventually, they shut Khris out, not inviting him, standing him up when it's time to hang out and he couldn't even speak up since he'd be met with either lies or claims that he was selfish. Especially for him and Jacob this felt strange, the two had been attached to the hip since they were kids and now they were close to strangers who just know each other's names.
The wave has now grown at least 20ft and was moving toward him. His heart told him he should've moved but his heart as broken as it is, refused to care. He watched the wave tower him and soon the cold, bitter bite of the water welcomed him. He didn't panic or struggle he just watched the light of the world push further and further away. He knew no one was coming and when they had it was probably going to be too late.
